Welcome To Hobby Haven!
Hello! Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week featuring the Stampin’ Up!® Online Exclusives Hobby Haven 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 167201), which is part of the Hobby Haven Suite Collection (item 167214). The twelve sheet Hobby Haven Designer Series Paper collection includes two sheets each of five designs, and two sheets of pre-cut images, and the non-pre-cut images are also great for fussy cutting✀! The images will appeal to a wide range of interests - plant lover, coffee lover, bibliophile, baker, chef, seamstress, knitter, painter, general crafter, and spa aficionado!
To complete my Hobby Haven projects this week I also used the following Stampin’ Up!® dies, stamp set, embellishments, and Designer Series Papers:
- rounded corner rectangle dies from Nested Essentials dies (item 161597) - notebook page, and frame. When cutting frames I use low-tack tape to hold the two dies together while passing the dies and cardstock (or watercolour paper as the case may be) through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653);
- Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - large square die used to cut window opening in watercolour paper framing mat on the framed paper quilt block project;
- Online Exclusives Everyday Arches dies (item 164629) - frame;
- Trusty Tools dies (item 162722) - for each of the two pencils used on the notebook earring card I cut the base pencil from watercolour paper, using Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166) mixed with a little water and applied with a small paint brush to colour the lead, and cut the pencil shaft from Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717), shading the edges with Pecan Pie ink (item 161665);
- bow die from the retired Window dies (item 159756 - featured in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue) to cut the bow used on the top of the Everyday Arches frame on the knitting earring card;
- retired Stitched Greenery die (item 155451 - featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue) to "quilt" the center paper quilt block on the framed decor project;
- retiring - and currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products - Just A Note stamp set (item 166098) for the notebook lines stamped on Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) using Basic Gray ink (item 149165). After stamping the lines I used the second largest of the rounded corner rectangle Nested Essentials dies to cut the notebook paper, and used a 1/8" hole punch to punch the four holes down the left side of the "paper). I used my Paper Snips Scissors to cut little slits in from the edge of the "paper" through to the punched holes, and used a small pointed makeup sponge to apply Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) around the holes. I used the Just A Note dies (item 1661010) to cut the clipboard clip from Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686);
- I used one of the large Pecan Pie dots from the Online Exclusives (and also part of the Hobby Haven Suite Collection) Earthy Matte Dots (item 167213) for the "fastener" on the Just A Note clipboard clip;
- two large and three small of the Petal Pink dots from the Muted Palette Dots (item 165155) used on the framed paper quilt block project, and two large and five of the small Petal Pink dots used on the front and back of the baking earring card;
- to the center of the Window bow on the knitting earring card I added one of the large Pool Party dots from the recently retired Party Dots (item 164602 - featured in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalogue);
- for the star pattern "quilt block" (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2025/06/quilts-and-flowers-hello-today-i-am.html) I used Petal Pink and Calypso Coral patterned papers from the following retired Designer Series Papers for the four 1" squares (2 each of two different DSP patterns for the 2" square center block), four 1" squares from a third DSP pattern - all four squares cut diagonally in half, and eight 1" squares from a fourth DSP pattern - four of these squares cut diagonally in half: Friendly Hello 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 158125 - January 4-February 28, 2022 Sale-A-Bration) - Petal Pink/white floral; Favoured Flowers 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160833 - January 5-February 28, 2023 Sale-A-Bration) - Calpyso Coral geometric design; Abigail Rose 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159037 - featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue) - Petal Pink/white striped pattern; and Pretty Prints 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159245 - also featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue) - Calypso Coral splatter pattern;
- for the background panel on the framed paper quilt block project I used a Petal Pink/white striped patterned paper from the recently retired Online Exclusives Mixed Media Florals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 164638);
- a Calypso Coral check patterned paper from the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678) for the front and back background panels of the sewing earring card; and
- for the background panel on the knitting earring card a Pool Party patterned paper from the retiring - and currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products - Floral Impressions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165603). I also used a Garden Green patterned paper from the Floral Impressions DSP for a background panel and strips on the baking earring card.
In addition to the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) that was used for all die cutting, I used the following additional basic tools and supplies to complete my projects this week:
- Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock and DSP, and for scoring cardstock fold lines. To ensure crisp folds I also burnished all the folded score lines with my Bone Folder (item 102300);
- Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the spatula and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for manipulating and placing small embellishments; and
- for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755). For the framed paper quilt block project I had to glue DSP to a trimmed cardboard panel, and after applying the glue to the cardboard panel, and spreading it over the panel surface with an old paint brush, I placed the DSP over the panel and used a brayer (Stampin' Brayer - item 162936) to roll over the DSP to ensure even coverage of the liquid glue and good even adhesion of the DSP to the cardboard panel. After the glue was thoroughly dry I used my craft knife to carefully trim away any excess DSP from around the edges of the cardboard panel.
Although the earring tent display cards vary in overall size, for each of the cards I added a "w" shaped brace, a triple-folded (valley-mountain-valley folds) piece of cardstock with 1/2" wide tabs that were glued to the inside back and front panels of the card (with the tab fold lines aligned with the bottom edges of the back and front panels). I trimmed the cardstock to be just a tiny bit less in width than the width of the card, and the length depended on how wide I wanted the tabs on each side of the center mountain fold to be - I used either 3/4" (knitting, sewing, and notebook earring cards) or 1 1/4" (baking earring card). For the placement of the holes to accommodate the earring hooks I made a template from a scrap piece of cardstock for each card, and used a small craft hammer and hole punch to punch the holes in the finished front panels of the card before attaching the cardstock brace or completing the back panel. (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2024/12/festive-earring-cards-hello-today-i-am.html)
For the earrings for my earring tent cards I raided my stash of charms and buttons, and all I had to add were the earring hooks. For each of the notebook earrings I glued a pencil button over a notebook page button - the button shanks were carefully removed with the blade of my craft knife.
On with the projects!
In addition to the black wood frame from Dollarama with inside back dimensions of 7" square, glass removed, and edges distressed with a medium grit sandpaper, I used a 6" square piece of watercolour paper for the framing mat, using the largest square die from the Stylish Shapes dies to cut the window opening; for the matting panel I cut a 6 1/4" square piece of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045); and to attach and pop up the plants on the shelf image, the iron, and the chair scene I used a combination of Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108), trimmed as necessary. To attach the watercolour paper framing window mat over the paper quilt block I used double-sided tape (Tear & Tape Adhesive - item 154031).
To complete the second project - which I thought might compliment my previous On Display book-themed projects shared in my October 31, 2025, blog post (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2025/10/putting-it-all-on-display-hello-its.html) - I glued the fussy cut book images around the 6" x 4" window opening in the pre-cut white photo mat that came with the thrift store wood frame with inside back dimensions of 10" x 8", glass removed. Behind the photo mat's window I secured a piece of coffee-dyed dictionary paper from my stash.
Additional supplies used to complete the 5" x 3" notebook earring card:
- Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, and for the 2 9/16" x 2 1/2" brace scored on the 2 1/2" side at 1/2" [valley], 1 1/4" [mountain], and 2" [valley];
- Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717) for the front panel's 4 7/8" x 2 7/8" matting panel, and the back panel's 1 3/4" x 3" matting panel; and
- from the flip side of the book image page of the DSP a 4 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece for the front panel, and a 1 1/2" x 3" piece for the back panel.
Additional supplies used to complete the 3 7/8" x 5" baking earring card:
- Garden Green cardstock (item 102584) for the card base, and for the 4 9/16" x 3 1/2" brace scored on the 3 1/2" side at 1/2" [valley], 1 3/4" [mountain], and 3" [valley];
- Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the 3 3/4" x 4 7/8" (2), and 3 3/8" x 2 1/2" matting panels;
- from the flip side of the baking image page of the DSP two 3 5/8" x 4 3/4" pieces - one each for the card's front and back panels; and
- from the Garden Green patterned Floral Impressions DSP a 3 1/4" x 2 3/8" piece for the earring panel, and two 1/2" x 4 3/4" strips for the back panel (placed along the top and bottom edges of the 2 1/4" x 4 3/4" strip trimmed from the baking image page of the DSP).
I couldn't decide which charm earrings to choose - the silver sewing machines or the gold sewing machine and spool! To complete this 3 5/8" x 3" card I used the following additional supplies:
- Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base; the 2 9/16" x 2 1/2" brace scored on the 2 1/2" side at 1/2" [valley], 1 1/4" [mountain], and 2" [valley]; and the Nested Essentials frame (for the frame backing panel I used the larger of the two Nested Essentials frame dies to cut the DSP panel); and
- from the Timeless Plaid DSP two 3 1/2" x 2 7/8" pieces, one each for the card's front and back panels.
The sewing machine image on the back panel is one of the pre-cut images.
Additional supplies used to complete this 4 1/4" x 3" card:
- Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, and the 2 9/16" x 2 1/2" brace scored on the 2 1/2" side at 1/2" [valley], 1 1/4" [mountain], and 2" [valley];
- Coastal Cabana cardstock (item 131297) for the Everyday Arches frame, and the two 4" x 2 3/4" matting panels, one each for the card's front and back panels;
- Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the die cut Window bow;
- from the flip side of the sewing/knitting image page of the DSP a panel trimmed to fit behind the Everyday Arches frame;
- for the card's back panel a 3 7/8" x 2 5/8" piece trimmed from the sewing/knitting image page of the DSP; and
- from the Floral Impressions DSP Pool Party patterned paper a 3 7/8" x 2 5/8" panel for the card front.
And finally. . .
For my "Archie" card, shared at the bottom of this blog post, I used StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the images from the retired Catch You Later stamp set (item 158037 - featured in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue) on watercolour paper, and coloured the full image using Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Pool Party ink (item 147107), Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118), and Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166). I used watercolour paper for the base of the 5" square card, and for the 4" square framing window mat - the 2 5/8" diameter circle window was die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183), and on both the left side and bottom edge of the framing mat I scored two lines at 1/4" and 1/2" from each edge. Behind the circle window I attached a trimmed piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) using double-sided tape (Tear & Tape Adhesive - item 154031), and then, also using the double-sided tape attached the trimmed image panel. Behind the window framing mat I then glued a 5 1/8" square piece of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045). Before securing the completed window framing mat to the card front I added two lengths of black waxed cord (Dollar Tree), one between each pair of the decorative scored lines, securing each of the cord ends to the back of the completed framing window mat with one of the Mini Glue Dots (item 103683). I used strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the completed framing window mat with image panel to a 4 1/2" square piece of Basic Black cardstock, which was then glued to the card front. The sentiment, also from the Catch You Later stamp set, was stamped on a trimmed strip of watercolour paper using StāzOn Jet Black Ink, and matted with a trimmed strip of Basic Black cardstock. To complete the card front I added two large and three small of the Pool Party dots from the recently retired Party Dots (item 164602). To complete the inside of the card I added a 4 1/4" square panel of watercolour paper, matted with a 4 1/2" square piece of Basic Black cardstock. To the bottom edge of the watercolour paper panel I added the fussy cut partial and uncoloured image - those eyes are watching!
