Putting It All On Display!

Hello!  It's okay to put it all on display when you are using the "coming soon" Stampin’ Up!® Online Exclusives On Display Bundle (item 167306)!  This Bundle, which includes the On Display photopolymer stamp set (item 167302) and the co-ordinating On Display dies (item 167020), will be included in the Online Exclusives new products November release.  Of course the stamp set and co-ordinating dies will also be available separate from the Bundle, and all of the products included in the November release will be available for ordering starting Tuesday November 4, 2025.  Today I am sharing three projects I worked on this week using the On Display Bundle.  The stamp set includes the two-step stamping lounging cat image - but of course you can certainly use just the full cat image, omitting the stripes!

To complete my projects this week I also used the following additional Stampin’ Up!® dies, and Designer Series Papers:
  • Gallery Blooms dies (item 165212) - additional foliage;
  • Online Exclusives Spooky Halloween dies (item 166198) - I used the broom die to make a stand for the On Display bird cage, trimming off both rounded ends of the broom die cut;
  • from the retiring - and currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products - Tags To Go dies (item 165576) I used the small key die;
  • Early Espresso and Crumb Cake wood grain patterned papers from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393) used for, respectively, flooring, edges of the wood panel; and a bookcase backing panel;
  • Strawberry Slush patterned paper, Pool Party patterned paper, and small floral patterned paper from the Online Exclusives Floral Impressions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165603), used for, respectively, flooring, and bookcase insert panels;
  • Lost Lagoon patterned paper from the Beautiful Gallery 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 165196) used for wallpaper;
  • Gray Granite patterned paper from Autumn Toile 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165882) used for wallpaper; and
  • the pre-cut dress form from the November Online Exclusives release Hobby Haven 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 166198) - this Specialty DSP includes two sheets of pre-cut pieces.

Just a quick summary of the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:

  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock and DSP;
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) to score decorative score lines in cardstock "base board" strips and bookcase backing panels;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting;
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the spatula and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for manipulating and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).  For several projects I had to glue DSP (or book paper or coffee dyed cardstock) to a base - in the case of the DSP and book paper to trimmed cardboard panels, and in the case of the coffee dyed cardstock to a wood panel.  After applying the glue to the base surface, and spreading it over the base surface with an old paint brush, I placed the DSP or the book paper or coffee dyed cardstock over the base surface, and used a brayer (Stampin' Brayer - item 162936) to roll over the DSP/book paper/coffee dyed cardstock to ensure even coverage of the liquid glue and good even adhesion of the DSP/book paper/coffee dyed cardstock to the base surface.  After the glue was thoroughly dry I used my craft knife to carefully trim away any excess DSP/book paper/coffee dyed cardstock from around the edges of the base surface.  The cardstock I used for coffee dyeing was a light weight white cardstock from my stash.
I used Blending Brushes (item 153611 - package of three) and Small Blending Brushes (item 160518 - package of three) to apply Classic Stampin' inks to shade/colour cardstock die cuts.  For additional visual texture (a slightly mottled effect) I sometimes lightly misted the shaded die cuts with water using one of the Stampin' Spritzers (item 126185 - package of two), either blotting dry with paper towel or allowing to air dry, often adding additional ink after the cardstock die cut was fully dry. Sponge Daubers (item 133773 - package of five) are also great for shading die cut edges (i.e. the inside edges of the bookcase "windows").

To give the bookcases a little dimension I stacked either two or three of the bookcase die cuts together - and for the bookcase pediments I used either three or four layers of die cuts.  I used my premium SU cardstock for the uppermost die cut layers, and used thicker cardstock in similar colours from my stash for the additional layers.

For a little more durability for the delicate die cuts for the globe frames I first glued two pieces of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) together before die cutting the frames.

On with the projects!

In addition to a 10" x 8" x 7/8" deep wood panel from Dollarama, and a 8" x 6" panel of medium weight carboard for the scene panel I used the following additional supplies to complete the first project:
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the bookcase, bookcase pediment, bookcase panels, trailing plant pot (top of bookcase), and baseboard strip;
  • Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) and Early Espresso ink (item 147114) to shade the bookcase, bookcase pediment, and bookcase panels.  The trailing plant pot was shaded just with Crumb Cake ink;
  • for the books:  Cherry Cobbler cardstock (item 119685), shaded with Cherry Cobbler ink (item 147083); Lost Lagoon cardstock (item 133679), Misty Moonlight cardstock (item 153081), Pretty Peacock cardstock (item 150880), and Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676), all shaded with Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111); Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717), shaded with Pecan Pie ink (item 161665); Night Of Navy cardstock (item 100867), shaded with Basic Gray ink (item 149165), and Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686), shaded with Early Espresso ink;
  • Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088) to stamp the globe image on Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) - I used a small paint brush to add a little Misty Moonlight ink mixed with water to the stamped globe image, and I then shaded the die cut globe with Crumb Cake ink;
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202) for the die cut bottle - shaded with Basic Gray and Early Espresso inks - I used two strands of Very Vanilla baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) to tie around the neck of the bottle;
  • Smoky Slate cardstock, shaded with Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso inks for the Tags To Go key die cut;
  • Lost Lagoon cardstock, shaded with Mossy Meadow ink for the large leafed floor plant;
  • Pecan Pie cardstock, shaded with Pecan Pie and Early Espresso inks for the pot for the large leafed plant;
  • Old Olive cardstock (item 100702), shaded with Mossy Meadow ink for the trailing plant;
  • small scraps of Early Espresso cardstock, the top edges scraped with the blade of my craft knife, for the "soil" for both plant pots;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the two bookcase drawer handles - to the center of each handle I added one of the small Very Vanilla dots from the Online Exclusives Neutral Matte Dots (item 165561);
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the 8 1/4" x 6 1/4" matting panel for the cardboard panel; and
  • Early Espresso ink to shade the edges of the Country Woods DSP strips on the sides of the wood panel, and to shade the edges of the coffee dyed cardstock on the front of the wood panel.
For this project - and the next project - for the books on the bookcase shelves I glued the books behind the bookcase openings before I glued on the bookcase's Country Woods DSP backing panel (or, in the case of the next project, the scored cardstock backing panel).  To make the gold markings on the book spines I used the 1.0mm tip of a dual-tipped gold Kuretake Zig Clean Color Dot marker.

In addition to a wood frame from Dollarama with inside back dimensions of 7" x 5", glass removed, I used the following additional supplies to complete this project:
  • Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) to shade the edges of the book paper glued to the cardboard panel trimmed to fit the inside back dimensions of the frame.  To add splatters to the book paper I flicked over the paper a paint brush used to mix Early Espresso ink (item 147114) with a little water;
  • Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717) for the bookcase, bookcase pediment, bookcase panels, and bookcase back panel.  I used Pecan Pie and Early Espresso inks to shade the bookcase, bookcase pediment, and bookcase panels;
  • for the books:  Cherry Cobbler cardstock (item 119685), shaded with Cherry Cobbler ink (item 147083); Lost Lagoon cardstock (item 133679), Misty Moonlight cardstock (item 153081), Pretty Peacock cardstock (item 150880), and Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676), all shaded with Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111); Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717), shaded with Pecan Pie ink (item 161665); and Night Of Navy cardstock (item 100867), shaded with Basic Gray ink (item 149165);
  • Coastal Cabana cardstock (item 131297), shaded with Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088) for the bottle holding the Gallery Blooms leafy sprig (Lost Lagoon cardstock shaded with Mossy Meadow ink);
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202), shaded with Basic Gray ink for the pitcher;
  • Soft Sea Foam cardstock (item 146988), shaded with Old Olive ink (item 147090) and Mossy Meadow ink for the Gallery Blooms foliage in the pitcher and the large leafed floor plant;
  • Pecan Pie ink to stamp the globe image on Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) - die cut globe shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116);
  • Misty Moonlight cardstock, shaded with Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118) and Early Espresso ink for the pot holding the large leafed plant - again I used scraps of Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686), edges scraped with the blade of my craft knife, for the "soil"; and
  • Basic Gray cardstock (item 121044), shaded with Basic Gray ink, for the bookcase door handles.  To the center of each handle I added one of the small Pecan Pie dots from the Online Exclusives Neutral Matte Dots (item 165561).
In  addition to a thrift store black plastic frame with front access dimensions of 7 3/4" square I used the following additional supplies to complete this project:
  • a medium weight cardboard panel trimmed to fit the inside front dimensions of the frame, covered with the same heavier weight white cardstock that I used for the additional die cut layers for the bookcase and bookcase pediment.  To secure the cardstock to the cardboard panel I used double-sided tape (Tear & Tape Adhesive - item 154031);
  • another medium weight cardboard panel for the scene panel - trimmed to just under 7" square;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the bookcase, bookcase pediment, bookcase door panels, bookcase backing panel, and baseboard strip;
  • Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to stamp the lounging cat images (including the stripes) on Basic White Thick cardstock - I used Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430), trimmed as necessary, to attach the die cut cat image;
  • for the books:  Misty Moonlight cardstock (item 153081), shaded with Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118); and Flirty Flamingo cardstock (item 141416), shaded with Calypso Coral ink (item 147101);
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202), shaded with Basic Gray ink (item 149165), for the pitcher.  Splatters were added by flicking the brush tip of my retired Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 162481) against the marker lid;
  • Soft Sea Foam cardstock (item 146988), shaded with Old Olive ink (item 147090) and Mossy Meadow ink for the Gallery Blooms foliage in the pitcher and for the large leafed floor plant;
  • Misty Moonlight cardstock, shaded with Misty Moonlight ink, for the pot for the large leafed plant - again I used scraps of Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686), edges scraped with the blade of my craft knife, for the "soil".  I used one of the Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the pot to the "floor";
  • Smoky Slate cardstock, shaded with Basic Gray ink, for the bookcase door handles - to the center of each handle I added one of the small white dots from the retired Classic Matte Dots (item 158146 - May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue);
  • Stampin' Dimensionals - trimmed as necessary - to attach the pitcher;
  • gold foil cardstock from my stash for the bird cage and the Spooky Halloween bird cage stand; and
  • strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the completed bookcase to the scene panel.
To add the white markings on the book spines I used a 0.7mm Posca White Paint Marker.

And finally . . .

For my "Archie" card, shared at the bottom of this blog post, I used watercolour paper for the base of the 4" x 2 7/8" top-fold card.  The image from the retired Catch You Later stamp set (item 158037 - featured in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue) was stamped on watercolour paper using StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured using Timid Tiger ink refill (item 165283), Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118), and Basic Gray ink (item 149165).  The image panel was trimmed to 2 1/2" x 2 7/8", top edge torn, and underneath the top and bottom edges of the image panel I added 1/2" x 2 7/8" strips trimmed from a Gray Granite patterned paper from the Autumn Toile 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165882) - I also added another 1/2" x 2 7/8" strip to the bottom of the inside panel.  Around the front of the card I wrapped some white baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475), securing the ends of the bow with tiny dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Thank you for visiting my blog!  I had a lot of fun putting it all on display with the On Display Bundle, and am certainly looking forward to working on more projects using this Bundle!
