Life Is Definitely Better When You're Crafting!

Hello!  When you are in the mood to work on some craft-themed projects - as I was this week - a good place to start is with the Stampin' Up! Crafting With You stamp set (item 16219) and co-ordinating Crafting With You dies (item 161225)!  For the three projects I am sharing today I combined images and a sentiment from the Crafting With You stamp set with die cuts made using the Crafting With You dies, and a few additional images and die cuts made using a few of my other favourite Stampin' Up! stamp and die sets.
Crafting With You dies - 161225
Additional stamp sets used:
  • Country Birdhouse (item 163395) - three-flower image used on the first project (die cut using the co-ordinating Country Birdhouse dies - item 163400 - *the stamp set and dies are also available together as the Country Birdhouse Bundle - item 163401); and

(Bundle - 163401)
  • Of Art & Texture (item 162687 - Online Exclusive) - to stamp the lines/splatters on the die cut "CREATE" letters on the first project, and to add the splatters on the first card.
Additional dies used:
  • Trusty Tools (item 162722) - pegboard on the first project;

  • Mini Alphabet (item 162934) - letters for "CREATE";
Mini Alphabet dies - 162934
  • Country Birdhouse (item 163400) - flowers, scalloped three-leafed sprig, and double-leaf sprigs;
  • Country Flowers (item 163410) - leafy clump, and small flower;

  • Mini Pocket Envelope (item 159167 - Online Exclusive) - oval and rectangle dies cut together to make small frame for first project (I used low-tack tape to hold the two dies together while die cutting), and the small tag die to cut three tags also for the first project;
Mini Pocket Envelope dies - 159167
  • Stylish Shapes (item 159183) - 1 1/2" and 1" diameter circle dies used together to cut frame used for the "wreath" base on the first project, and the 1" diameter circle die to cut the watercoloured circle also on the first project; and
Stylish Shapes dies - 159183
  • Nested Essentials (item 161597) - rounded corner rectangle dies used to cut sentiment panel on first project, and watercoloured panels on second card.

The stamped and die cut images were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406).  I also used Stazon Jet Black Ink to stamp the sentiment on the first project.  All additional die cuts were cut from cardstock.

Just a brief note regarding the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:

  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming paper and cardstock - can also be used for scoring;
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring card fold lines - to ensure crisp folds I also burnish all folded scored lines using my Bone Folder (item 102300);
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579) - these sharp little scissors are great for trimming die cuts - sometimes you just have to remove a few leaves or shorten a stem;
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer, mini spatula, and tacky putty tips are a great help for picking up and placing small die cuts; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
On with the projects!
Although a variation in size from both the workbench gift box shared in my June 14, 2024, blogpost ("Tools For Dad!" https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2024/06/tools-for-dad-hello-today-i-am-sharing.html), and the tool chest gift box shared in my January 26, 2024, blogpost ("What A Tool!" https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2024/01/what-tool-playing-with-trusty-tools.html), this gift box/storage box is constructed in the same manner.  I wanted to create an ideal crafting space - envisioning an Ikea white table top supported by twin white Ikea drawer units!  This project might serve as a gift box to hold a crafting-themed gift for a fellow avid crafter or simply as some fun storage/decoration in my own crafting area! The box portion - excluding the back panel - measures 5" tall x 6" wide x 3" deep.  I used the following additional supplies to complete the project:
  • for the box:  two 9 1/2" x 8" pieces of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045), each scored on the 9 1/2" side at 3" and 6" (1/2" tab is the glue tab), and scored on the 8" side at 3" (bottom flaps);
  • for the lid:  an 8 1/4" x 5 3/16" piece of Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229), scored at 1" on all four sides;
  • for the back panel (to be glued to the back of the lid with the bottom edges of both aligned) a 5 1/2" x 6 1/4" piece of Basic White Thick cardstock;
  • for both the front and back of the back panel a 6" x 4 1/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock;
  • for the pegboard panel:  after die cutting the pegboard from Basic White Thick cardstock I trimmed the panel to 4 3/16" x 2 13/16", matted it with a 4 11/16" x 3 5/16" piece of Basic Black cardstock, and another piece of Basic White Thick cardstock trimmed to 4 7/8" x 3 5/8";
  • sentiment panel:  after stamping the sentiment on Basic White Thick cardstock I die cut the panel using the 3" x 2 3/8" rectangle die from Nested Essentials dies.  I used Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094) to stamp the splatters on the panel;
  • for the "cutting mat" on the top of the "table" (lid) I cut a 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990) - using a small corner rounder punch to round the corners - and matted it with a 4 5/8" x 2 5/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock;
  • for the drawer units:  two 5 1/2" x 5" pieces of Basic White Thick cardstock, scored on the 5 1/2" side at 1/2" (glued to back of box) and 3 1/2" (3" wide section is glued to the side of the box); and then, to delineate the "drawers", along the 5" side scored at 2", 3", and 4" just down to the score line made at 3 1/2" on the 5 1/2" side - the 2" wide section is glued to the front of the box and has the three horizontal score lines delineating the "drawers".  For the back sections of the drawer units I cut two 2" x 5" pieces of Basic White Thick cardstock, and glued these to the back of the box, covering the 1/2" tabs.  For the little drawer notches I trimmed circles (just under half) cut from Basic Black cardstock using a 1/2" circle punch - gluing them centered onto the "drawer" fronts so that the top edge of the partial Basic Black cardstock circles lined up with the top of the score lines made to delineate the "drawers";
  • the die cut circle under the flower portion of the "wreath" was cut from a piece of watercolour paper that had been watercoloured using Pool Party ink (item 147107), and Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088);
  • for the center of the flower on the "wreath" - one small Lemon Lolly dot from Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 162758); and
  • cardstock used for the additional die cuts:
  1. Granny Apple Green and Basic Black for the die cut letters - I used Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) to stamp the lines/splatters on the Granny Apple Green cardstock letters.  I glued the stamped Granny Apple Green cardstock letters slightly offset over the the Basic Black cardstock letters;
  2. Granny Apple Green and Garden Green (item 102584) for the foliage;
  3. Basic White Thick, Daffodil Delight (item 119683), and Melon Mambo (item 115320) for the flowers;
  4. Azure Afternoon (item 161719), Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, and Garden Green for the buttons;
  5. Daffodil Delight for the ruler - I used a 0.05 tip Copic Multi Liner marker to fill in the measurement markings on the die cut;
  6. Crumb Cake (item 120953) for the circle frame used as the base for the flower "wreath"; and the three mini tags - edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116), tags secured together with dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and a single strand of Linen Thread (item 104199) looped through the tags - knot secured with tiny dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue;
  7. Basic White Thick, Basic Black, Granny Apple Green, and Melon Mambo for the mini top-fold card (card base:  1 1/2" x 1", scored at 3/4" on the 1 1/2" side);
  8. Crumb Cake and Basic Beige (item 164511) for the spools, and Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Basic White Thick, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Azure Afternoon, and Pumpkin Pie (item 105117) for the thread;
  9. Smoky Slate (item 131202) and Pumpkin Pie for the scissors on the pegboard, and Smoky Slate and Basic Black for the scissors on the sentiment panel;
  10. Pecan Pie (item 161717) embossed with Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406) that had been inked with Early Espresso ink (item 147114) for the top frame, and Basic Black cardstock for the bottom frame;
  11. Pebbled Path (item 161722), Smoky Slate, Basic White Thick, and Basic Black for the paper trimmer - the edges of the Smoky Slate cardstock pieces sponged with Basic Gray ink (item 149165); and
  12. for the pile of trimmed pieces of cardstock on the left side of the "table" - Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, and Melon Mambo.
And finally . . . just two fun little note/gift cards:

For the bases of both 3 1/2" square top-fold cards I used Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229).

Additional supplies used to complete the "cut & emboss machine" card (a handy little gift card to include if gifting a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine or Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine purchased during the Stampin' Up! June Promotion . . .😉):
  • Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717) for the die cut embroidery hoop - I coloured the top screw mechanism with Basic Gray ink (item 149165), applied with a paint brush and a little water;
  • Daffodil Delight cardstock (item 119683) for the five die cut flowers;
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990) and Garden Green cardstock (item 102584) for the foliage; and
  • Garden Green cardstock for the button used for the center of the large layered flower (for this flower I layered two of the large with one of the small die cuts of the same design).

Additional supplies used to complete the sewing machine card:
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990) and Garden Green cardstock (item 102584) for the foliage;
  • Basic Beige cardstock (item 164511) for the spool;
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock for the thread;
  • for the larger rectangular panel a piece of watercolour paper that had been ink "smooshed" using Granny Apple Green Ink Refill (item 147163) and Garden Green Ink Refill (item 102059) - I applied several drops of each Ink Refill to a clean clear block, spritzed the block with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) and "smooshed" the watercolour paper onto the block; and
  • for the smaller rectangular panel a piece of watercolour paper that had been watercoloured with Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) and (a little) Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094).
For the two watercolour paper panels I was trying to replicate the look of batik-style fabric . . .
