Playing With The Window Wishes Bundle!

(a few Christmas projects)

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few Christmas projects I worked on this week using the Stampin' Up! Window Wishes Bundle (item 159757) that is featured in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue, and which includes the Window Wishes stamp set (item 159751) and the Window dies (item 159756).  The stamp set and dies can of course be purchased separately, but, when purchased together using the Bundle item number there is the 10% Bundle Savings!

Window Wishes Bundle - item 159757

For each of my projects I used my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) for all die cutting; my Paper Trimmer (item 152392) for cutting paper and cardstock; a scoring board and stylus (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) for paper/cardstock scoring; a bone folder (Bone Folder - item 102300) to burnish all score lines; and, for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).  I also find a stamping platform, such as the Stamparatus (item 146276), a very handy tool for stamping images and sentiments.  On a few of the projects I used heat embossing, which requires a heat gun so the Heat Tool (item 129053) also becomes a very valuable tool!

I was very excited to get this Bundle as I really enjoy working on projects using window dies and very much miss the retired Window Flower Box dies (item 154335)!  For the assembly of my first project - a Christmas cottage gift bag - I followed most of the instructions I previously used for my Farmhouse and Yellow Cottage Gift Bags (April 7, 2022 blogpost "A few projects using the Window Flower Box dies" - https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2022/04/a-few-projects-using-window-flower-box.html) - but omitting the extra pieces I previously added to the inside of the roof pieces - this time I left the magnets exposed!
For this gift bag, the "box" or base portion of which measures 6" tall x 5" wide x 2 1/2" deep, I used the following pieces of cardstock:
  • for the "box" two 8" x 10 1/2" pieces of Real Red cardstock (item 102482) - scored on the 8" side at 2 1/2" and 7 1/2" (the 1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 10 1/2" side at 2 1/2" and 8 1/2" (the 2 1/2" tabs are the bottom flaps and the 2" tabs are the top flaps);
  • for the roof sections two 5 1/2" x 4" pieces of Real Red cardstock - each scored on the 4" side at 3/4" (the top flap);
  • for the "shingles" for each roof section six 5 3/4" long  x 1" wide strips of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) which were cut using the scallop edge die from the Scalloped Contours dies (item 155560) - after gluing the strips to each roof section centering the scallops I trimmed the edges of the strips with scissors so that they were the same width as the roof sections.  I glued the scallop strips to each roof section before I glued the roof sections to the top of the box;
  • for the handles - two 11' long x 3/4" wide strips of Real Red cardstock - I scored the length of each handle three times at 1/4" intervals;
  • "siding" panels - for the front and back of the box two 4 7/8" wide x 5 7/8" tall pieces of Real Red cardstock, and for the sides two 2 3/8" wide x 5 7/8" tall pieces of Real Red cardstock.  I scored each siding panel horizontally at 1/4" intervals - around the edges of each of the siding panels I sponged some Real Red ink (item 147084); and
  • for the outside top edges of the front and back roof sections - two 5 1/2" long x 1/2" wide strips of Basic Black cardstock - scored horizontally at 1/4"; and two 5 1/2" long x 1/4" wide strips of Real Red cardstock - scored horizontally at 1/8".
Before assembling the box portion I glued on the scored and inked siding panel to the front panel of the box. and completed the placement of the window.  To cut the window opening I taped the inside window die to the front panel and cut around it using my craft knife.  To cut the inside window section you have to remember to use both of the window dies - position and tape them before cutting to ensure proper alignment when cutting.  For the inside portion of the window I used Basic Black cardstock.  I also added some additional ornament - I used the fence die from the Gingerbread House dies (item 159718) to die cut a strip of Basic Black cardstock and then glued this die cut strip upside down across the back of the Basic Black cardstock inside window section.  Before cutting the Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) window frame I embossed the cardstock using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406).  Before gluing on the completed window over the window opening I turned over the Basic Black cardstock and Basic White Thick cardstock window pieces and tacked them together using narrow strips of clear tape.  After gluing the completed window to the outside of the window opening I glued an approximately 3" x 4" piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) to the inside of the front panel behind the window opening.  I then glued the candle image to the bottom of the inside bottom of the window frame behind the acetate - applying a thin line of glue only to the bottom of the candle image.  Before completing the assembly of the box I glued on the rest of the siding panels.  After completing the assembly of the box I then glued on the shingled roof sections, and attached the handles and the two small Basic Grey magnetic discs (purchased at my local scrapbooking store).

Additional supplies I used to complete this project:
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the stamped images;
  • Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576) to stamp the garland and the candles;
  • Mango Melody ink (item 147093) to stamp the candle flames (the die that resembles a crown cuts the flames!);
  • Decorated Pine dies (item 159710) to cut the Real Red cardstock bow, and the Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574) pine boughs - I trimmed the die cut boughs to form a tighter spray below the window;
  • Snowfall Accents Puff Paint (item 150691) for the snow on the Evening Evergreen cardstock pine boughs - it is a lot of fun watching the paint puff up when applying the required heat with the heat gun!;
  • Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon (item 158135) for the handle bow;
  • Matte Black Dots (item 154284) - a small dot added to the center of the Real Red cardstock bow; and
  • two black and two red buttons from my stash to add a little extra embellishment.
For this gift box, which measures 7" tall x 4" wide x 1" deep I followed the construction and assembly instructions I provided in my April 28, 2022, blogpost "Mother's Day Projects" for the Lidded Box For Eurospa Facial Masks (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2022/04/mothers-day-projects-hello-since.html), just shortening the depth of the lid to accommodate the window.  For this project I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the box two 8" x 6" pieces of Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983), scored on the 8" side at 7" (1" tab are the bottom flaps), and scored on the 6" side at 1" from both edges;
  • for the lid a 7 1/16" x 4 1/16" piece of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045), scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides;
  • for the "shingles" - four 3/4" x 4 1/8" strips of Basic Black cardstock - cut using the scallop edge die from the Scalloped Contours dies (item 155560) - I trimmed the top shingle strip to approximately 5/8" wide;
  • for the handle - an 11" long x 1" wide piece of Basic Black cardstock - scored vertically at 1/4" intervals;
  • a 4" x 1" strip of Gray Granite cardstock and a 3 15/16" x 15/16" piece of Basic Black cardstock for the top of the lid;
  • a 3 3/4" wide x 5 7/8" tall piece of Gray Granite cardstock, embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (item 149643) - I sponged Basic Gray ink (item 149165) around the edges of the embossed panel;
  • Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 100082) to add splatters to the box and embossed panel by flicking the brush tip of the marker against the marker lid;
  • Basic Black cardstock for the window frame;
  • Basic Black cardstock for the additional window ornamentation - cut using the fence die from the Gingerbread House dies (item 159718) and glued upside down behind the window frame;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the inside window piece - before cutting this window section I embossed the cardstock using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406);
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the stamped images;
  • Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576) to stamp the garland and trees;
  • Real Red cardstock (item 102482) for the bow, which was cut using the Decorated Pine dies (item 159710);
  • three red buttons from my stash - two large buttons used on the lid sides (through which I threaded a small length of Basic Black baker's twine - Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475), and one small button added to the center of the Real Red cardstock bow;
  • Pearl Basics Jewels (item 144219) - added to the tops of the trees and on the Real Red cardstock bow;
  • Real Red 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon (item 156323) for the handle bow; and
  • for the window pane an approximately 3" x 4" piece of Vellum 8 1/2" x 11" Cardstock (item 101856), which was embossed using the snowflake patterned embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders (item 155433) - I wanted the window "glass" to look like an etched frosted window on a cold winter day.
Before assembling the box I glued the Gray Granite cardstock embossed panel to the front panel of the box and cut the window opening (using my craft knife and the inside window die as the cutting template); glued on the window frame pieces over the window opening; and then glued the embossed Vellum Cardstock panel to the inside of the front panel behind the window opening.  After completing the box assembly I added the stamped garland and trees, Real Red cardstock bow, button and pearls.

For this lidded box that measures 4 5/8" wide x 5 5/8" tall x 1 1/2" deep I used the following supplies:
  • for the box base a 7 9/16" x 8 9/16" piece of Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229), scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides;
  • for the lid a 7 5/8" x 8 5/8" piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, also scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides;
  • for the embossed panel a 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of Basic White Thick cardstock - embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (item 149643);
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the inside window piece and one of the window frames;
  • two pieces of Basic White Thick cardstock for two additional outside window frames - before cutting these frames I embossed the cardstock pieces using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406) - I wanted a little more dimension for the window frame;
  • Basic White cardstock for the stamped and embossed garland, wreath, and sentiment;
  • VersaMark Ink (item 102283) and gold embossing powder (Stampin' Emboss Powders - Metallics - item 155555) for stamping and embossing the garland, wreath, and sentiment;
  • gold cardstock (Brushed Metallic 12" x 12" Cardstock - item 153524) for the die cut bow - cut using the Decorated Pine dies (item 159710);
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) to "paint" the edges of the embossed panel, and to add splatters to the embossed panel and lid sides by "whacking" the brush against the bone folder;
  • a 3" x 4" piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) for the window pane; and
  • gold cord from Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766) for the bow tied through the center of the 5/8" white gross grain ribbon (from my Dollar Tree stash!) bow tied around the box.
Before assembling the box lid I glued on the prepared embossed panel, cut out the window opening using my craft knife and the inside window die as the cutting template, glued on the die cut window and frame pieces over the window opening, and glued the acetate panel to the inside of the lid behind the window opening.  After completing the lid assembly I added the stamped and embossed garland, wreath and sentiment, and the die cut bow.  From my stash I added a piece of cream and gold snowflake patterned tissue paper to the inside of the box.  My intention for this project was for a more elegant gift box - perhaps to hold a lovely silk scarf . . .

I really like the small images and dies that are included with this bundle - they are perfect for making quick little gift tags and small cards!
For this approximately 2 3/4" diameter gift tag I used the following additional supplies:
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the embossed Balmy Blue cardstock (item 146982) and the Basic White cardstock (item 159276) circles;
  • snow hill edge die to cut one of the Basic White cardstock circles (which was glued to the bottom of the embossed Balmy Blue cardstock circle after the house image was glued to the back of the snow hill);
  • Basic White cardstock for the stamped images;
  • Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576), Real Red ink (item 147084), and Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the trees, house, and house roof respectively;
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink to stamp the "To:"" and "From:" (from the Scary Cute stamp set - item 159850) on the backing Basic White cardstock circle;
  • snowflake patterned embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders (item 155433) to emboss a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock prior to die cutting the circle;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the scalloped circle - cut using the Layering Circles dies (item 151770);
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) to add splatters to the tag (done before adding the Basic Black cardstock scalloped circle); and
  • Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon (item 156485) for the bow tied through the black eyelet I added to the top of the tag.
For this 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" gift card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202) for the card base;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the embossed Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197) and the Basic White cardstock (item 159276) circles;
  • snow hill die to cut the Basic White cardstock circle, which was then glued to the bottom of the embossed Bermuda Bay cardstock circle;
  • snowflake patterned embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders (item 155433) to emboss a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock prior to die cutting the circle;
  • Layering Circles dies (item 151770) to cut the Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) matting circle;
  • Basic Black cardstock for the die cut car wheels;
  • Basic White cardstock for the stamped images;
  • Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) and Real Red ink (item 147084) to stamp the tree and car respectively;
  • light gray alcohol marker to add shading to the car windows and Basic White cardstock circle;
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) for splatters on circle with stamped images (done before Basic Black cardstock matting circle added);
  • small piece of Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon (item 156485) glued to the back and side of the Basic Black cardstock circle;
  • Matte Black Dots (item 154284) - one large dot added to the embossed Bermuda Bay cardstock circle by the ribbon;
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) for the bow adhered to the tree; and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to attach the matted circle to the card base.
For this 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" gift card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574) for the card base and circle (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183);
  • Real Red cardstock (item 102482) for the front matting square and inside sentiment panel - I "ruffled" the edges of both by running the blade of my craft knife along the edges;
  • Evening Evergreen patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - 2021-2023 In Colour (item 159254) for the decorative paper matting square;
  • small strip of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the base for the stamped trees - this was cut using the window ledge die and then trimmed by die cutting using the same circle die from the Stylish Shapes dies that was used to cut the Evening Evergreen cardstock circle;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) and Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576) for the stamped trees;
  • VersaMark Ink (item 102283) and clear embossing powder (Stampin' Emboss Powders - Basics - item 155554) to stamp and emboss the sentiment;
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) - wrapped around the Evening Evergreen cardstock circle a few times and knotted; and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to attach the Evening Evergreen cardstock circle to the card front.
The three red buttons added to the tops of the trees are from my stash - lucky matches to the Real Red cardstock!

For this 3 1/2" tall x 3" wide top-fold gift card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the stamped/embossed trees and sentiment, and snow hill circle;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the embossed circle - the cardstock was embossed using the snowflake patterned embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders (item 155433) before the circle was cut;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the embossed Basic Black cardstock circle and the Basic White cardstock snow hill circle - using the snow hill die I cut the Basic White cardstock circle and then glued it to the bottom of the embossed Basic Black cardstock circle;
  • Basic Black cardstock for the matting panel;
  • Distressed Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Paper (item 159237) for the decorative paper matting panels for the front of the card and the sentiment strip;
  • VersaMark Ink (item 102283) and gold embossing powder (Stampin' Emboss Powders - Metallics - item 155555) to stamp and emboss the trees and  sentiment;
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) to "paint" the edges of the completed circle and to add splatters to the completed circle and to the inside of the card;
  • gold cord from Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766) for the bow glued to the side of the circle; and
  • Pearl Basics Jewels (item 144219) - one added to the top of each tree.  Because I didn't have any Real Red coloured jewels on hand I coloured the two Pearl Basics Jewels with an alcohol marker (this could certainly also be done using any of the Stampin' Blends and would ensure a perfect colour match to your selected cardstock colour every time!)
And finally . . .
For this very simple 3" tall x 2 1/4" wide gift card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) and Real Red ink (item 147084) for the stamped wreath;
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) to add a few splatters to the stamped wreath; and
  • gold cardstock (Brushed Metallic 12" x 12" Cardstock - item 153524) for the die cut bow - cut using the Decorated Pine dies (item 159710).
Thank you for visiting my blog!  I had a lot of fun working on these projects - for the Christmas season you always need gift tags and cards and, of course a hand-crafted gift box helps make the presentation of any gift more special (and, to my mind, may also help distract the gift recipient from a gift they might not otherwise receive too enthusiastically!)  I am looking forward to using the Window Wishes Bundle for some non-Christmas projects too!
