Umbrella Days!
Hello! Today I am sharing a few card projects I worked on this week using two of the products that will be included in the Stampin' Up! November 5, 2024, new Online Exclusives product release: the Umbrella Days cling stamp set (item 164891) and the co-ordinating Umbrella Days dies (item 164894). There is also the opportunity to take advantage of the 10% Bundled Savings as the stamp set and co-ordinating dies will also be available together in the Umbrella Days Bundle (item 164895).
Online Exclusives are products that are only available online as they are not included in any of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues, and include stamp and die bundles - such as the Umbrella Days Bundle; Designer Series Paper; all-inclusive kits; ribbon and other trim; embellishments; punches; embossing folders; and stand-alone stamp and die sets. The Online Exclusives products have no set retirement dates but some of the products will be available only while supplies last, that is to say that Stampin' Up! will not re-order some of
these items when the current inventory runs low. To view the full range of Online Exclusives - including all the fun products that will be available on November 5, 2024 - please visit my online store - https://archiesatelier.stampinup.net/ - select "Shop Now", then "Menu", and then "Online Exclusives".
Just a brief run-down of the basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:
- Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock and Designer Series Paper (can also be used for scoring fold lines);
- stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring card fold lines - to ensure crisp folds I also burnish all folded scored lines using my Bone Folder (item 102300)
- Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
- Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579) - these sharp little scissors are great for doing any necessary trimming of die cuts - i.e. separating foliage die cuts from an edge die cut;
- Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer, mini spatula, and tacky putty tips are a great help for picking up and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
- for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
For the coloured images I used Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the images on watercolour paper, using Craft Stampin' Inks mixed with a little water and applied with paint brushes to colour the images. I also used Stazon Jet Black Ink to stamp the sentiments.
To add shading to cardstock die cuts I used Small Blending Brushes (item 160518) to apply Craft Stampin' Inks to the die cuts. To add a little additional visual texture I quite often lightly spritzed the inked cardstock with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), allowing to air dry.
I die cut the clouds from watercolour paper and shaded them with Basic Gray ink (item 149165). The puddles were also cut from watercolour paper, and coloured with a wash of Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118), and lightly spritzed with water (Stampin' Spritzers).
For all card bases I used Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229).
On with the projects!
Additional supplies used to complete this 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" top-fold card:
- gold paper from Textured Metallic 12" x 12" Specialty Paper (item 163772) for the 4 7/8" x 3 1/2" matting panel (using my craft knife and a ruler I cut a rectangle out of the center of this matting panel before gluing it to the back of the DSP panel - too much gold paper to let go to waste and I will need it for some Christmas projects!);
- gold splattered/text patterned paper from Nature's Sweetness 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 162616) for the 4 3/4" x 3 3/8" panel;
- large tag die from the Online Exclusives Greetings Of The Season dies (item 164112) to cut background tag from watercolour paper that I had coloured with a wash of Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086);
- rectangular tag die from Greetings Of The Season dies to cut sentiment tag from watercolour paper that I had coloured with a wash of Balmy Blue ink refill (item 147168);
- small flag die from Nested Essentials dies (item 161597) to cut small flag from watercolour paper shaded with Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) - I glued the flag die cut to the bottom edge of the sentiment tag;
Nested Essentials dies - 161597
- Country Flowers stamp set (item 163405) for the floral bouquet image - die cut using the co-ordinating Country Flowers dies (item 163410). The Country Flowers stamp set and dies are also available together in the Country Flowers Bundle (item 163411). I used Pumpkin Pie ink, Old Olive ink (item 147090), Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), Pecan Pie ink (item 161665), and Lost Lagoon ink (item 161678) to colour the floral bouquet image;
Country Flowers dies - 163410
(Bundle - 163411)
- Pumpkin Pie ink, Granny Apple Green ink, Misty Moonlight ink, Pecan Pie ink, and Real Red ink (item 147084) to colour the lady with umbrella image; and
- after gluing the sentiment tag with flag to the back of the lady with umbrella image I used Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - trimmed as necessary - to attach the image/sentiment tag/flag to the background tag die cut.
Additional supplies used to complete this 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" top-fold card:
- Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for 5 1/4" x 4 1/4" panel;
- Berry Burst patterned paper from Bright & Beautiful 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 161449) for the 4" x 2 1/8" panel - top edge torn;
- Country Flowers stamp set (item 163405) for the sentiment - stamped on a just a shade under 3/8" wide strip of Basic White Thick cardstock, both ends torn;
- watercolour paper for the dog's die cut jacket - coloured with Berry Burst ink (item 147143);
- Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Berry Burst ink, Pecan Pie ink (item 161665), and Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118) to colour the lady with umbrella image; and Pecan Pie ink to colour the dog image; and
- one small and two large Basic Black dots from the retired Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) added to the DSP panel - I stocked up on the Classic Matte Dots when they were made available on the Clearance Rack a few weeks ago!
Additional supplies used to complete this 4" square top-fold card:
- rectangular tag die from Greetings Of The Season dies (item 164112) to cut sentiment tag from watercolour paper coloured with a wash of Balmy Blue ink refill (item 147168);
- Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) to colour the dog image;
- Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Calypso Coral ink (item 147101), Crumb Cake ink, and Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118) to colour the child with umbrella image; and
- after gluing the die cut and coloured images to the sentiment tag I used Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - trimmed as necessary - to attach the images and sentiment tag to the card front (the puddle was glued directly to the card front).
As long as you are in good company you can be brave facing the storm clouds that unfortunately appear in all our lives.
Additional supplies used to complete this 4" square top-fold card:
- Balmy Blue ink refill (item 147168), Calypso Coral ink (item 147101), Real Red ink (item 147084), Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118), and Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094) to colour the child with umbrella image. After the ink on the umbrella was dry I added a little visual texture by dotting on clean water with a small paint brush;
- Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) to colour the dog image; and
- watercolour paper for the die cut dog's jacket, which I coloured using Real Red ink.
Taking the sentiment to heart I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front - something I usually don't do!
Additional supplies used to complete this 4" square top-fold card:
- Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the 3 3/8" square matting panel;
- Crumb Cake check patterned paper from Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 162593) for the 3 3/16" square panel - all edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116);
- Country Flowers stamp set (item 163405) for the sentiment - stamped on a 1/4" wide x 2 13/16" long strip of Basic White Thick cardstock;
- Crumb Cake ink and Real Red ink (item 147084) to colour the dog image; and
- Highland Heather ink refill (item 147167), Calypso Coral ink (item 147101), Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094), Basic Gray ink (item 149165), and Real Red ink to colour the child with umbrella image. As I did with the previous card I used a small paint brush to dot clean water on to the umbrella after the original ink washes had dried.
Additional supplies used to complete this 5 1/2" x 4 1/8" top-fold card:
- 5 1/4" x 3 7/8" panel of Basic White Thick cardstock embossed using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406) over one inside panel of which I had dragged my Basic Gray ink pad (item 149165) prior to embossing. After embossing the cardstock I used the large arch die from the Online Exclusives Garden Meadow dies (item 162740) to cut the "window";
- for the "window" backing panel an approximately 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" piece of watercolour paper coloured with a wash of Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118), and lightly spritzed with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185);
- long oval die from the Online Exclusives Changing Leaves dies (item 164138) to cut the sentiment label from Basic White Thick cardstock. After stamping the sentiment - from the Online Exclusives Changing Leaves stamp set (item 164351) - I added the splatters by flicking the brush tip of my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 162481) against the marker's lid. The Changing Leaves stamp set and Changing Leaves dies (which includes the Hybrid Embossing Folder) are also available together in the Changing Leaves Bundle (item 164139);
Changing Leaves dies (includes the Hybrid Embossing Folder) - 164138
(Bundle - 164139)
- Country Birdhouse dies (item 163400) to cut four small flowers from Misty Moonlight cardstock (item 153081) - edges shaded with Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118);
Country Birdhouse dies - 163400
- Country Birdhouse dies to cut four two-leaf sprigs from Old Olive cardstock (item 100702) - shaded with Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111);
- Delicate Forest dies (item 162679) to cut three small leafy sprig edge die cuts from Old Olive cardstock - I snipped each of the leafy sprigs from the partial edge die cuts, shaded them with Mossy Meadow ink and used them to fill out the floral/leafy sprays added around the boots and above the umbrella of the lady with umbrella image;
Delicate Forest dies - 162679
- Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094), Pecan Pie ink (item 161665), Basic Gray ink, and Real Red ink (item 147084) to colour the lady with umbrella image - I again used a small paint brush to dot clean water on to the umbrella. I sponged around some of the edges of the die cut with Basic Gray ink; and
- small and large white dots from the retired Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) added to card front - including four small dots used for flower centers.
And finally . . .
Additional supplies used to complete this 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" top-fold slimline card:
- three ATC-sized (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") watercolour paper panels stamped using a real leaf and Lost Lagoon ink (item 161678). As I did a few weeks ago (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2024/10/playing-with-leaves-hello-this-weeks.html) I lightly spritzed the stamped leaf images with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), letting some of the ink bleed. To add splatters over the panels I flicked the paint brush I used to mix Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) with a little water - using a paper towel to blot up some of the splatters (and also to help lighten some of the splatters). I glued these watercolour paper panels to my card front, allowing a 1/4" border on each end and between each panel, and a 3/8" border top and bottom;
- watercolour paper for the dog's die cut jacket - coloured with Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094);
- Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) to colour the dog image;
- Daffodil Delight ink, Lost Lagoon ink, Calyspo Coral ink (item 147101), Crumb Cake ink, Pecan Pie ink, and Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118) to colour the lady with umbrella and child with umbrella images;
- Country Flowers stamp set (item 163405) for the sentiment, stamped on a 3/8" wide x 3 1/8" long strip of Basic White Thick cardstock (both ends torn);
- Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108) to attach the sentiment strip; and
- two of the Daffodil Delight dots from Glossy Dot Assortment (item 158827) added to each watercolour paper panel (I used dots in all three of the sizes included in the package).
Thank you for visiting my blog! I had a lot of fun starting to play with the Umbrella Days Bundle - even a crazy cat lady can't resist the little dog's jacket!
