Playing With The Stitched Stocking Dies!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week using the Stampin’ Up!® Stitched Stocking dies (item 168230), which were included in the July release of new Online Exclusives Products.  Do not be fooled by the name - this die set is not exclusively for projects for the festive season!  There are dies in the set that can be used in combination with each other, on their own, or in combination with dies from other Stampin’ Up!® sets for a wide variety of projects - anytime you want a quilted accent or theme!  

To complete my projects this week I also used the following additional Stampin’ Up!® dies and embossing folders:

• Sweet Bugs dies (item 167001) - two-leafed stem and flower center dies;

• flower and flower center dies from the Pretty Poinsettia dies (item 168146), which were also included in the July release of new Online Exclusives Products.  Large and small flowers were added to Sweet Bugs stems;

• from the Fern & Flora dies (item 168991) I used one of the fern dies;

• the "leaf/flower/grass" die from the very recently retired (as of August 4) Help Me Grow dies (item 167166) - the flower die cut was added to a Sweet Bugs stem;

• the bracket edge die from the Bordered In Beauty dies (item 167556);

• from the Gears & Textures dies (item 166853) I used the small circle die to cut the centers for the stars in the Stitched Stocking star strip die cut on the second card - for this card I also used the tree edge die from the "coming soon" Welcome Noel dies (item 168464) that will be featured in the September-December 2026 Catalogue;

• various sizes of arch dies from the Everyday Arches dies (item 164629) - the arch dies make great bases for tags too!;

• Fern & Flora 3D Embossing Folder (item 167744); and

• the "coming soon" Rustic Checck 3 D Embossing Folder (item 168442), which will be featured in the September-December 2026 Catalogue.

For embossed die cuts I emboss the cardstock prior to die cutting.

When shading cardstock die cuts I used Small Blending Brushes (item 160518 - package of three) and finger Sponge Daubers (item 133773 - package of five) to apply the Classic Stampin' inks to the die cuts.

Just a brief note regarding the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:

• Paper Trimmer (item 152392) for trimming cardstock and Designer Series Paper, and for scoring card fold lines.  To ensure crisp folds I also burnish all folded score lines with my Bone Folder (item 102300);
• Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) for all die cutting and embossing;
• Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the tacky putty tip is definitely a great help for picking up and placing small die cuts (i.e. the inset pieces for the star strip die cuts) and embellishments; and
• for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).

On with the projects!

Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 3 7/8" top-fold card:

• Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the card base, and for card front's trimmed 1 1/4" x 3 7/8" star strip die cut;
• Coastal Cabana cardstock (item 131297) for the 1 1/2" x 3 7/8" matting panel for the star strip die cut;
• Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the star strip die cut's 1 5/8" x 3 7/8" matting panel; the Bordered In Beauty bracket edge die cut; the two 1/8" x 3 7/8" strips; and the inside panel's 3 7/8" x 3 5/8" matting panel;
• Poppy Parade cardstock (item 119793) and Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990) for the star strip inset pieces - I also used Granny Apple Green cardstock for the inside panel's 1" x 3 1/2" star strip die cut;
• Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" inside panel; and
• four of the large Pool Party dots from the "coming soon" Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 168443 - featured in the September-December 2026 Catalogue).

Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 4 1/4" top-fold card:

• Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the card base;
• Peaceful Pine cardstock (item 167691) for the 1" x 4 1/4" star strip die cut;
• Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the star strip's 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" matting panel; the Gears & Textures circle die cuts; the two Welcome Noel tree edge die cuts; the front panel's 1/16" x 4 1/4" strip; and the inside panel's 3 7/8" x 4 1/8" matting panel, and 1/8" x 4" strip;
• Poppy Parade cardstock (item 119793) for the star strip inset pieces; and
• Very Vanilla cardstock (item 166784) for the 3 3/4" x 4" inside panel.

I used my retired Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to add the splatters to the card front by flicking the brush tip against the marker lid.

Additional supplies used to complete this 4 3/4" x 3" top-fold card:

• Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
• Hydrangea Hue cardstock (item 167687) for the embossed long die cut - shaded with Misty Moonlight ink (item 153118);
• Coastal Cabana cardstock (item 131297) for the two embossed large triangle die cuts, and the three quarter square die cut; and for the small triangle die cut on the inside panel;
• Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the small triangle die cut; and the large embossed triangle die cut on the inside panel;
• Daffodil Delight cardstock (item 119683), shaded with Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094) and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), for the Pretty Poinsettia flower;
• Pecan Pie cardstock (item 161717), shaded with Early Espresso ink (item 147114) for the Sweet Bugs flower center; and
• after gluing the top and bottom embossed triangles, and the flower and foliage die cuts to the embossed long die cut I used strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the embossed long die cut to the card front.

The small "almost Hydrangea Hue" and "almost Pool Party" buttons were from my stash.

Additional supplies used to complete this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" top-fold card:

• Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the card base, and the large embossed triangle die cut;
• Hydrangea Hue cardstock (item 167687) for the card front's 4" x 2 1/2" embossed panel; the Help Me Grow flower (shaded with Misty Moonlight ink - item 153118); and the inside panel's 1/2" x 3 3/4" embossed strip;
• Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686) for the embossed panel's 4 1/8" x 2 5/8" matting panel; the card front's 1/2" x 3 3/4" strip; and the inside panel's 5 1/4" x 4" matting panel;
• Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the 4 7/8" x 3 3/4" inside panel - I used my retired Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to add a few splatters;
• watercolour paper for the Everyday Arches die cut - before die cutting the arch I glued a 1 1/4" wide strip of the Pool Party patterned paper from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393) onto the watercolour paper panel;

• after gluing the flower/stem and embossed triangle die cuts to the Everyday Arches die cut I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch the hole for and to set the large eyelet in the bottom corner;
• strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the completed Everyday Arches die cut to the matted embossed panel; and
• two small and one large of the Pool Party dots from the "coming soon" Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 168443).

Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 3" top-fold card:

• Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the card base, and the Pretty Poinsettia flower center die cut;
• Golden Glow cardstock (item 167685) for the Pretty Poinsettia flower die cut, shaded with Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094); the front panel's 1" x 3", and two 1/4" x 4" strips; and the inside panel's 1/4" x 2 3/4" strip
• Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the large embossed triangle die cut, and the inside panel's 1/2" x 3" strip;
• watercolour paper, over which I had first glued a 1 1/2" wide strip of Pool Party patterned paper from the retired Sunshine & Rainbows 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 158126), for the Everyday Arches die cut;

• Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" inside panel; 
• one large Pecan Pie dot from the retiring - and currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products - Earthy Matte Dots (item 167213) added to the center of the Pretty Poinsettia flower; and

• two small and one large of the Golden Glow dots from the "coming soon" Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 168443).

For the three tags I used two sizes of the Everyday Arches dies, gluing the die cuts to the base layer before die cutting - with the exception of most of the inset pieces, because after not a little trial and error😼I found it worked best for me to glue them on after the tag had been die cut.  For each tag I also cut two arches - gluing them together with wrong sides together so there would be a finished edge on the back of the tag too.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch the holes for and to set the eyelets, and used elastic and waxed cord from my stash for the hangers.  For the tags I used:

Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the base and some inset pieces; Poppy Parade cardstock (item 119793) for strip and edge die cuts; Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for strip die cut, matting panel, and additional inset pieces; and large Poppy Parade dots from the retired Dear Dots (item 165848) for the centers of the stars.

Golden Glow cardstock (item 167685) for the base and some inset pieces; Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for strip die cut and strips; Hydrangea Hue cardstock (item 167687) for matting panel, and some inset pieces; Peaceful Pine cardstock (item 167691) for additional inset pieces; my retired Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to add some splatters; and two of the large Golden Glow dots from the "coming soon" Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 168443) for the centers of the stars.

Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the base; patterned paper from the retired (2023 Sale-A-Bration) Favoured Flowers 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160833) for the die cut triangles and square; Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush (item141897) to add some shimmery splatters; and three of the large Calypso Coral dots from the "coming soon" Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 168443).

And finally . . . 

For my Archie project this week, shared at the bottom of this blog post, I decided to make a garden-themed tag for Archie's album.  I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp on watercolour paper the images from the retired Pretty Kitty stamp set (item 141864 - featured in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue), and the retired Storybook Garden Patch stamp set (item 164663 - featured in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalogue); and, from the Extraordinary Life stamp set (item 167713), the butterfly.  The Storybook Garden Patch images were die cut using the co-ordinating retired Storybook Garden Patch dies (item 164666); and the Exraordinary Life butterfly image was die cut using the co-ordinating Extraordinary Life dies (item 167718).  To colour the images I used: Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094), Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Azure Afternoon ink refill (item 161668), Highland Heather ink refill (item 147167), Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), Crumb Cake ink refill (item  121029), Pecan Pie ink refill (item 161669), Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166), and Gray Granite ink (item 147118).  I used the Everyday Arches dies (item 164629) to cut the tag base.  To cut the hole for and to set the eyelet I used my Crop-A-Dile, and for the tag hanger I used some jute twine from my stash.
