Playing With The Heirloom Arrangements Kit!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few card projects I worked on this week featuring components from the Stampin’ Up!® Heirloom Arrangements Kit (item 165007).  My sister had previously purchased this Kit, and I took the opportunity of the Kits Collection Sale last month to add it to my collection!  This all-inclusive Kit contains the following supplies required to complete eight pre-designed 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" cards:
  • Heirloom Arrangements photopolymer stamp set;
  • clear stamp block;
  • Pecan Pie Stampin' Spot;
  • eight printed envelopes;
  • eight printed card bases;
  • pre-cut paper and vellum pieces; and
  • sufficient adhesive (Stampin' Dimensionals and Tear & Tape Adhesive) to complete the eight pre-designed card projects.
For my card projects this week I had a lot of fun combining various components from the Kit - several of the pre-cut paper elements, printed card bases, and the butterfly image from the stamp set - with Stampin’ Up!® die sets and Designer Series Papers, including:
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - square dies used for die cutting frames and image panels (when cutting the frames I used low-tack tape to hold the two square dies together while I passed the dies and watercolour paper through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine - item 149653);
  • Gallery Blooms dies (item 165212) - additional foliage die cuts;
  • Online Exclusives Creative Haven dies (item 167208) and Everyday Arches dies (item 164629) - for a small frame I combined the arch die from the Creative Haven dies with the smallest of the Everyday Arches dies.  From the Creative Haven dies I also used the flag die and the two foliage dies;
  • Alphabet Ã€ La Mode dies (item 160750) - number "5".  For a metallic look I first covered a piece of heavy weight cardstock from my stash (no reason to use premium SU cardstock for this) with silver tape picked up in the plumbing department of Home Depot.  After die cutting the number I sanded the die cut with fine grit sandpaper, and then painted the die cut with black acrylic paint, using my fingers to "buff" the paint, essentially removing most of the paint but at the same time working some paint into the sanded crevices of the tape surface. I also die cut several tags from the tape-covered cardstock for use in future projects - maybe a bit messy but certainly lots of fun;
  • two patterned papers from the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678);
  • a fussy cut chair image from the Online Exclusives Hobby Haven Specialty 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 167201);
  • a Blushing Bride patterned paper from the January 5-February 28, 2023 Sale-A-Bration Dainty Flowers 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160834) - used for the background panel on the card with the fussy cut chair;
  • Early Espresso check patterned paper from the Autumn Toile 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165882); and
  • two wood grain patterned papers from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393).

Even if you don't think you would be interested in making the pre-designed projects of a Kit, consider the individual components of the Kits and how they might work into your preferred style or type of projects - the Kits can be very versatile:  pre-printed card bases and envelopes can be trimmed or die cut; pre-cut paper elements can be combined with additional die cuts, and/or trimmed, and edges lightly sanded and/or inked; and in the case of the Heirloom Arrangements Kit the pre-cut circle and rectangular white paper pieces can be stamped on, inked, trimmed, ends torn etc. etc.!

Just a brief note regarding the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week, in addition to the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) that was used for all die cutting:

  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock, watercolour paper, and DSP, and for scoring card fold lines.  To ensure sharp folds I also burnished the scored fold lines with my Bone Folder (item 102300);
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the spatula and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for manipulating and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
To apply Classic Stampin' inks to shade the edges of panels and trimmed elements I used one of the finger Sponge Daubers (item 133773 - package of five).

On with the projects!
Additional supplies used to complete this 4 5/8" x 6" top-fold card:
  • Pretty Peacock cardstock (item 150880) for the card base;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card front's 4 1/4" x 5 5/8" matting panel (the printed card base panel was trimmed to 4 1/8" x 5 1/2"), and the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" inside panel;
  • Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) - or the Pecan Pie Stampin' Spot that is included in the Kit - to shade the edges of the trimmed printed card base panel, and the edges of the hexagon and tag elements;
  • one small and one large of the Pecan Pie dots from the Online Exclusives Neutral Matte Dots (item 165561) added to the card front; and
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) tied through the two white buttons from my stash that were also added to the card front.
Additional supplies used to complete this 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" top-fold card:
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the card base;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card front's 5 1/8" x 4 1/8" matting panel (pre-printed card base panel trimmed to 5" x 4"), and the 5 1/8" x 4 1/8" inside panel;
  • Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) to shade the edges of the trimmed pre-printed card base panel;
  • I used one of the Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the single large pre-cut flower image at the bottom of the arrangement image; and
  • three small and two large of the Petal Pink dots from the Muted Palette Dots (item 165155) added to the card front.

Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 5" top-fold card:
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the card base;
  • watercolour paper, shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116), for the 2 3/8" square frame - I used strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the frame to a trimmed piece of coffee-dyed sheet music;
  • Crumb Cake ink to shade the edges of the octagonal image panel;
  • Timeless Plaid DSP panel trimmed to 2 1/2" x 5" for the card front - along the bottom of the inside panel's 3 7/8" x 4 7/8" Very Vanilla cardstock (item 166784) panel I also added a 1/8" x 5" strip of the Timeless Plaid DSP
  • a small piece of torn corrugated cardboard (salvaged from packaging) tucked under the right side of the image panel; and
  • I used my Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush (item 141897) to add a few shimmery splatters to the wings of the butterfly.  In attaching the butterfly I only applied glue to the underside of the body - thus enabling me to be able to give a little dimension to the wings by pulling them up slightly.
Additional supplies used to complete this 3 1/2" square top-fold card:
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (item 166784) for the card base;
  • watercolour paper, shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) for the 2 3/8" square frame - I used strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the frame to the card front; and
  • Very Vanilla baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item  155475) tied through the off-white and clear patterned button from my stash that was added to the bottom left corner of the frame.
Additional supplies used to complete this 5" x 2 3/4" top-fold gift card:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the 4 7/8" x 2 5/8" matting panel (Country Woods DSP panel trimmed to 4 3/4" x 2 1/2" - edges sanded with fine-grit sandpaper; and the Timeless Plaid DSP panel trimmed to 3 3/4" x 1" - a 3/8" x 2 3/4" strip added to the bottom edge of the inside panel);
  • a little shimmer added around the edges of the butterfly wings with my Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush (item 141897) - again when gluing the butterfly to the card front I only added glue to the back of the body, lifting the wings up slightly with my fingers; and
  • two small and one large of the Daffodil Delight dots from the Muted Palette Dots (item 165155) added to the card front.
Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 5" top-fold card:
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (item 166784) for the card base;
  • Garden Green cardstock (item 102584) for the Gallery Blooms foliage die cuts;
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the butterfly image on white copy paper - the fussy cut image was shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116);
  • Crumb Cake ink to shade the edges of the image panel;
  • strips trimmed from Foam Adhesive Sheets (item 152815) to attach the image panel over the arranged foliage die cuts on the card front; and
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) to tie the bow through the off-white button from my stash that was added to the upper right corner of the image panel.
Additional supplies used to complete this 4" x 4 1/2" top-fold card:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, the arched frame (glued over a trimmed piece of coffee-dyed dictionary paper), and the Gallery Blooms foliage die cut;

  • one small and two large of the Early Espresso dots from the Online Exclusives Earthy Matte Dots (item 167213) added to the card front.

Additional supplies used to complete this 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" top-fold gift card:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the butterfly image three times on a 3 1/8" x 1 1/2" strip (ends torn) of Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) - all edges of the cardstock strip shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116);
  • Autumn Toile DSP panel trimmed to 4 1/8" x 2 1/2" (a 1/2" x 2 1/2" strip also added to the bottom edge of the inside panel);
  • Country Woods DSP panel trimmed to 3 3/4" x 1 3/4" (ends torn), and all edges shaded with Crumb Cake ink; and
  • one small and two large of the Pool Party dots from the recently retired Party Dots (item 164602 - featured in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalogue) added to the card front.
For this 4 1/4" x 3 5/8" top-fold Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) card I brushed over the butterfly stamp Garden Green ink refill (item 102059) mixed with a little water, and stamped the image on watercolour paper, adding a few splatters by flicking over the image the paint brush used to mix the ink refill and water.  After gluing the flag piece from the Kit to the card front I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch the hole and to set the silver eyelet (purchased at my local scrapbooking shop).  The 1 1/2" square image panel was die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.  I also used the Garden Green ink refill/water mixture to colour two of the rectangular white paper pieces from the Kit - trimming, and then tearing the ends before adhering them to the card front over the banner.

For this 4" x 3" top-fold Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) card I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the butterfly image over one of the white paper circle pieces from the Kit that I had shaded with Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) and lightly misted with water using one of the Stampin' Spritzers (item 126185 - package of two).  I used the two foliage dies from the Creative Haven dies to die cut the leaves from watercolour paper, and I coloured them with washes of Garden Green ink refill (item 102059) mixed with water.  I love collecting paint sample panels, and for this card I used two recent additions to my collection - the "almost Pecan Pie" panel was trimmed to 3 7/8" x 2 7/8", and the "almost Lost Lagoon" flag was die cut using the Creative Haven dies.  To complete the little card I added two small and one large of the Lost Lagoon dots from the Online Exclusives Earthy Matte Dots (item 167213).

And finally . . .

For my "Archie" project this week, included at the bottom of this blog post, I used Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the base of a 4" x 5" top-fold card, trimming the pre-printed card base panel from the Kit to 3 7/8" x 4 7/8"; adding a 3 7/8" x 2 1/2" panel trimmed from one of the Pretty Peacock patterned papers from the retired Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack (item 163774 - May 2024-April 2025 Annual Catalogue), a 1 1/8" x 2 1/2" panel trimmed from one of the wood grain patterned papers from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393), and a 1/4" x 2 1/2" Basic White Thick cardstock "baseboard" strip.  Archie in his favourite chair, from the retired Sit Stay Relax stamp set (item 159152 - one of the Hostess stamp sets from the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue) was stamped on Basic White Thick cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708), and coloured using alcohol markers and, for additional shading for the chair, a Faber-Castell Green Olive Polychromos coloured pencil.  The sentiment, also from the Sit Stay Relax stamp set, was also stamped on Basic White Thick cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and the sentiment banner was die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430), trimmed as necessary, to attach both the image and the sentiment banner.  To complete the card I added one small and two large of the shaded Parakeet Party dots from the retired 2022-2024 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots (item 159186 - featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue).
