Christmas Tags And Gift Cards With Stickers!
Hello! I really enjoy perusing the aisles of my local thrift and dollar stores for items that I can use in art and crafting projects, and I was very excited to find some very cute Christmas Stickers and Christmas Embossed Stickers in the seasonal aisles at Dollarama several weeks ago that I thought would be great for combining with my Stampin’ Up!® supplies for Christmas tags and gift cards (which could do double duty as Christmas tree ornaments too). Today I am sharing a few of these tag and gift card projects I worked on this week. Rather than providing excruciating details for each project I will provide a summary of techniques used, and the details for the Stampin’ Up!® supplies used to complete the projects.
For each of the tags I cut a window opening in the top base tag shape, which was backed with a panel trimmed from Designer Series Paper. To the back of the top base tag with the DSP panel I glued a full second base tag shape (no window opening), and the two tag bases were glued with wrong sides together so that both sides of the tags would have finished edges. The addition of the second layer of tag also gives the tags more durability. When cutting the window opening in the top base tag I used low-tack tape to hold the base tag die and the window die together while I passed the dies and cardstock/watercolour paper through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653). On several of the tags I used my Crop-A-Dile to enlarge the pre-cut hole in the tag die cuts, and to set an eyelet - eyelets were purchased at my local scrapbooking shop. Although the stickers have an adhesive backing I did use my Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755) to attach the stickers to my tags and cards.
To complete my projects this week I used the following Stampin’ Up!® dies, stamp set, Designer Series Papers, and embellishments and ribbon:
- for the tag bases I used the 2 5/8" x 2 1/16" tag die (the larger of the two tag dies of similar shape) from the Online Exclusives Creative Haven dies (item 167208); the 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" rounded corner rectangle die from the Nested Essentials dies (item 161597); and, for the large tags, the largest tag die (rounded top edge) from the retired Online Exclusives Greetings Of The Season dies (item 164112);
- for the tag window openings I used the rounded corner rectangle dies from the Nested Essentials dies. To cut the window frame used on the small luggage tag style tag with the truck sticker from Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) I used two of the rounded corner rectangle dies. I also used the long narrow banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the cardstock loop for the tag, as well as the loop for the festive house tag;
- for foliage die cuts I used the pine bough die from the retired Joy Of Noel dies (item 161965 - featured in the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue), and the greenery swag die from the retired Online Exclusives Sophisticated Sled dies (item 164133);
- for the window frames on the cards I used square and circle dies from the Stylish Shapes dies - to the back of each of the card frames I also glued a panel trimmed from Designer Series Paper;
- the "Merry Christmas" sentiment and the snowflake images are from the Online Exclusives Festive Friends stamp set (item 166035) - the "Merry Christmas" is part of the full "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" sentiment stamp, and before inking the stamp I used a sticky note to cover the "We Wish You A" portion of the sentiment - sometimes in the excitement of wanting to stamp it can be easy to forget to remove the sticky note before stamping but always a good idea to take that extra moment for sober second thought before you get a big inky mess!. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the partial sentiment on Basic White Thick cardstock before die cutting the sentiment using the long narrow banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies - I straight cut the left end of the sentiment banner before tucking it slightly under the left edge of the card's square cardstock window frame;
- from the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678): a Boho Blue gingham patterned paper, and a Boho Blue/Misty Moonlight plaid patterned paper;
- Garden Green patterned paper from the Online Exclusives Floral Impressions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165603);
- Misty Moonlight and Lost Lagoon patterned papers from the Thoughtful Journey 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 163303);
- two woodgrain patterned papers from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393);
- Strawberry Slush patterned paper from the 2025-2027 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack (item 165300);
- Smoky Slate striped patterned paper from the recently retired Country Lace 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163415);
- grayscale patterned paper from the retiring Botanical Textures 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165545 - currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products);
- Real Red patterned paper from the retired Online Exclusives One Horse Open Sleigh 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 162118);
- Online Exclusives Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints (item 164050);
- Online Exclusives Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink Gems (item 165615);
- 3 mm silver pearls from the retired Metallic Pearls (item 146282 - featured in the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalogue);
- white baker's twine from Baker's Twine Essentials Pack (item 155475);
- gold and silver cord from the retired Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766 - featured in the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue);
- Garden Green 3/8" ribbon from the retired Real Red & Garden Green 3/8" Ribbon Combo Pack (item 159577 - featured in the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue) for the bow on one of the Santa tags; and
- retired Black & Very Vanilla 3/8" Large Check Ribbon (item 161982 - featured in the May 2024-April 2025 Annual Catalogue).
Just a brief summary of the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week, in addition to the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) that was used for all die cutting:
- Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock, Designer Series Paper, and watercolour paper, and for scoring card fold lines. To ensure crisp card folds I also burnished all the scored fold lines with my Bone Folder (item 102300);
- Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the spatula and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for manipulating and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
- for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
I used Blending Brushes (item 153611 - package of three) and Small Blending Brushes (item 160518 - package of three) to apply Classic Stampin' inks to shade/colour cardstock die cuts.
On with the projects!
Additional supplies used to complete this Santa tag:

For the hanger I used some jute rope from my stash.
Additional supplies used to complete this tag:

For the tag bases of each of these tags, all die cut using the Creative Haven tag die, I used: watercolour paper; Lost Lagoon cardstock (item 133679), shaded with Lost Lagoon ink (item 161678); Basic Black cardstock (item 121045); and Night Of Navy cardstock (item 100867). Around the edges of the Basic Black and Night Of Navy cardstock tags I applied Craft Stampin' White Ink (147277), using one of the finger Sponge Daubers (item 133773 - package of five). I used a paint brush loaded with Liquitex Titanium White Acrylic Gouache to flick "snow" splatters across the top tag bases of both the Basic Black and Night Of Navy cardstock tags (while flicking the paint brush over the tags I used the cardstock die cut that was removed when the window was cut to cover the DSP panels). The pink, "almost Lost Lagoon", and "almost Night Of Navy" ribbons were from my stash.

Unfortunately Stampin' Up! advises that the On Display dies - and consequently the On Display Bundle - are not currently available but are expected to again be available the week of December 8, 2025.
