Grow With Love Seed Packet Envelopes and Gift Note Cards!
Hello! Today I am sharing a few seed packet envelope and gift note card projects I worked on this week, using the Stampin’ Up!® Grow With Love dies (item 164803) to make the seed packet envelopes. These dies are one of the new products that were included in the January 2025 Online Exclusives release, and are also available together with the co-ordinating Grow With Love cling stamp set (item 164797) in the Grow With Love Bundle (item 164804). *When the dies and stamp set are ordered together using the Bundle item number the 10% Bundled Savings will apply!*
The completed seed packet envelopes are sized to hold a standard gift card - measuring 3 5/8" x 2 3/8" closed. I made all my top-fold gift note cards 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" so that they would fit easily into the envelopes, and used either Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) or Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the card bases. Since I did make quite a few cards and envelopes I will not bore you with excruciating details about each project other than to provide general information and details of the products used!
I used the following Designer Series Papers to make the envelopes - sponging all edges of each envelope with Early Espresso ink (item 147114):
- various wood grain patterns from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393);
- various patterns from the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678);
- two Old Olive/Mossy Meadow patterns from the Season Of Green & Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 164324);
- two patterns from the Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 162593); and
- Wild Wheat floral patterned paper from the retiring Regal Winter 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 164156) - available while supplies last as one of the discounted Last Chance Products.
For the envelopes' two die cut circle fasteners I used Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953), Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686), and Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) - I sponged Early Espresso ink around the edges of the Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow cardstock circles. To secure the fasteners to the back of the envelopes I used small brads (purchased at my local scrapbooking shop and from my stash), using a piercing tool to make the holes for the brads. For the "string" wrapped around the circle fasteners I used: Crumb Cake, black, white, Gray Granite, and Very Vanilla baker's twine from Baker's Twine Essentials Pack (item 155475) - wrapping the twine several times around the brad and under the circle fastener on the back of the top flap before giving the final securing pinch to the brad's spread prongs.
Although I generally left the front of the envelopes unadorned on two of the envelopes I added a sentiment and a watercoloured and die cut image:
- the small jacketed bunny image stamped and die cut using the Storybook Friends stamp set (item 164668) and co-ordinating Storybook Friends dies (item 164674) *stamp set and dies are also available together in the Storybook Friends Bundle - item 164675*; the "Thanks" sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set (item 163305) stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock, the sentiment banner die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - to the sentiment banner I added one small and one large of the Night Of Navy shaded dots from the Ombre Matte Decorative Dots (item 161448); and
- flower-bearing turtle stamped and die cut using the Playing In The Rain stamp set (item 160542) and the co-ordinating Playing In The Rain dies (item 160550); and the "from the garden of" sentiment from the Grow With Love stamp set stamped on watercolour paper - sentiment banner die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies, ends torn, and shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 147116).
All images - including those used on the two envelopes - were all stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured with the following Classic Stampin' inks mixed with water and applied with small paint brushes:
- Crumb Cake;
- Misty Moonlight (item 153118);
- Granny Apple Green (item 147095), Old Olive (item 147090), and Mossy Meadow (item 147111);
- Pool Party (item 147107);
- Calypso Coral (item 147101);
- Basic Gray (item 149165);
- Pumpkin Pie (item 147086);
- Pecan Pie (item 161665);
- Blackberry Bliss (item 147092); and
- Berry Burst (item 147143), Real Red (item 147084), and Cherry Cobbler (item 147083).
I also used the Stazon Jet Black Ink to stamp the sentiments.
For additional images I used the following stamp sets:
- Storybook Garden Patch (item 164663) - images die cut using the co-ordinating Storybook Garden Patch dies (item 164666) *stamp set and dies are also available together in the Storybook Garden Patch Bundle - item 164667*;
- Spotlight On Nature (item 163579);
- Changing Leaves (item 164351);
- Sketched Plaid - background stamp (item 161424);
- Storybook Friends - images die cut using the co-ordinating Storybook Friends dies; and
- Grow With Love - the framed mint image was die cut using the Grow With Love dies.
Additional dies used:
- Storybook Friends - Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) die cut frame;
- Country Flowers (item 163410) - leafy clump on double bunny card cut from Old Olive cardstock (item 100702) and shaded with Mossy Meadow ink; and
- Greetings Of The Season (item 164112) - tag die cuts - including the background watercolour paper tag coloured with Misty Moonlight ink and with both ends torn used on the bunny with flower pots/carrot/lettuce card.
On the bunny with flower pots/carrot/lettuce card I also used the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder (164049) to emboss a Crumb Cake cardstock panel - edges of the embossed panel shaded with Crumb Cake ink.
On a few of the cards I stamped the images on Crumb Cake cardstock, shading the edges of the image panels with Crumb Cake ink. I also used Basic Black cardstock for matting panels on several cards, and on the Spotlight On Nature tulip card with Basic Gray ink watercoloured background I scraped the edges of the panel with the blade of my craft knife. On a couple of cards I added a Very Vanilla cardstock (item 101650) panel to the inside of the card. On several cards I added splatters with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 162481) by flicking the brush tip against the marker lid. The "Missing You" sentiment, from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set, was stamped on watercolour paper and to each end of the trimmed sentiment strip I added one of the large Calypso Coral shaded dots from the Ombre Matte Decorative Dots (item 161448). To the Spotlight On Nature leaf card I added one small and two large of the Summer Splash dots from the 2024-2026 In Colour Resin Dots (item 163389).
I shaded the edges of the DSP panels on the cards with either Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, or Mossy Meadow ink.
For the image tag's bow on the Spotlight On Nature "from the garden of" tulip card I used Crumb Cake baker's twine from Baker's Twine Essentials Pack (item 155475), securing the knotted ends with tiny dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755) - which was also used as the main adhesive for all my projects.
Just a quick summary of the basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:
- Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock and Designer Series Paper - can also be used for scoring;
- stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) for scoring fold lines on cardstock;
- Bone Folder (item 102300) for burnishing scored fold lines;
- Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
- Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer, mini spatula, and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for picking up and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
- Small Blending Brushes (package of three - item 160518) to apply Classic Stampin' inks to shade cardstock die cuts and image panels.
To start my projects this week I began with a 5 3/8" square x 2 3/4" deep x 1/8" wide wood panel/box from Dollarama, which is actually the largest panel/box in a packaged set of five, and is just the right size to accommodate two rows of the seed packet envelopes and cards. I covered the sides (inside and outside), inside bottom, and top edges with trimmed panels and strips from the Misty Moonlight wood grain patterned paper from the Country Woods 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 163393). I used a fine grit sandpaper to distress all edges of the DSP panels and strips. To ensure even coverage of the liquid glue and good even adhesion of the DSP to the surfaces of the wood panel/box I used the Stampin' Brayer (item 162936) to roll over the DSP immediately after gluing it to the surfaces of the wood panel/box. To the front side of the box I added a label holder from a Stampin’ Up!® product from quite a few years ago - the Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware Embellishment Kit (item 105531) - gluing a small piece of another pattern of woodgrain patterned paper from the Country Woods DSP to the inside of the holder before I attached it to the box using two small screws I had taken off another Dollarama box!
Unfortunately Stampin' Up! advises that the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678) is not currently available but that it is expected to again be available for ordering the week of February 10, 2025.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I had lots of fun working on these seed packet envelopes and gift note cards! There are lots of possibilities to explore for sure with the seed packet die . . .
