A Few Easter Treat Holders!

Hello!  With Easter fast approaching today I am sharing four treat holder projects I worked on this week featuring two of my favourite characters from the Stampin' Up! Playing In The Rain stamp set (item 160542) - and die cut using the co-ordinating Playing In The Rain dies (item 160550).  The bunny's joy is infectious, and the turtle's beseeching expression is irresistible!  For these projects I also used images and die cuts made using the new Encircled In Nature stamp set (item 163623) and co-ordinating Encircled In Nature dies (item 163628).  The Encircled In Nature photopolymer stamp set and co-ordinating dies are two of the new Online Exclusives released on March 5, 2024.  The stamp set and dies are also available together as the Encircled In Nature Bundle (item 163629), which provides the 10% Bundled Savings over purchasing the stamp set and dies individually.  All products included in the Online Exclusives March 5, 2024, release can be viewed on my website (https://archiesatelier.stampinup.net/) - these products are not included in any of the Stampin' Up! catalogues.

Just a brief note about the basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:

  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming paper and cardstock;
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring fold lines.  For crisp folds I also burnish all folded scored lines using my Bone Folder (item 102300);
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting;
  • Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579) - these sharp scissors are great for trimming die cuts (i.e. snipping off a few leaves etc.); and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
All stamped images were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and watercoloured with Classic Stampin' inks and Classic Stampin' ink refills applied with small paint brushes and a little water.  With the exception of the two five-leafed sprigs cut using the Grove dies (item 157844) and used on the Blueberry Bushel treat holder all die cuts were cut from watercolour paper.  The Classic Stampin' inks/Classic Stampin' ink refills were applied to the die cuts either by watercolouring, or for the inks, with Blending Brushes (item 153611) and Small Blending Brushes (item 160518), or, as with the foliage die cuts, a combination of both techniques.

To colour the bunnies I used the following:
  • Basic Gray Ink Refill (item 149166) for the bodies;
  • Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216) for the noses and inside the ears; and
  • Sweet Sorbet ink, Highland Heather Ink Refill (item 147167), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) for the jackets.
*Stampin' Up! advises that the Highland Heather Ink Refill is not currently available but is expected to be available for ordering the week of March 25, 2024.*

To colour the turtle I used the following:
  • Old Olive Ink Refill (item 100531) and Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111) for the head, legs, and arms;
  • Crumb Cake Ink Refill (item 121029) and Pecan Pie Ink Refill (item 161669) for the shell; and
  • Highland Heather Ink Refill and Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094) for the flower.
To create the "dots" I dabbed on clean water with a small paint brush, allowed the drops to sit for a minute, and then blotted dry with paper towel.

To colour the leafy foliage die cut using the Encircled In Nature dies I used Old Olive Ink Refill and Mossy Meadow ink - I also pressed the foliage pieces directly into the Mossy Meadow ink pad.  I used Highland Heather Ink Refill and Mossy Meadow ink to colour the two "lavender" sprigs die cut using the Encircled In Nature dies and used on the small lidded box.

The two five-leafed sprigs cut using the Grove dies were cut from Old Olive cardstock (item 100702), and shaded with Mossy Meadow ink applied with one of the Small Blending Brushes.

The "sun" on the milk carton treat box was die cut using the 1 5/8" diameter circle from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183), and shaded with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks applied with Blending Brushes.

On with the projects!
To complete this milk carton treat holder that measures 6 1/2" tall (4" for the box portion) x 2 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the carton an 8 1/2" x 10 1/2" piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock (item 159268) - scored on the 10 1/2" side at 2 1/2", 5", 7 1/2", and 10" (1/2" tab is the side glue tab); scored on the 8 1/2" side at 2" (bottom flaps), 6", and 8" (1/2" top edge); and then turning the cardstock so that the carton's 1/2" top edge lies against the top edge of the scoreboard, scored at 1 1/4" and 6 1/4" from the top edge down 1/2" to the horizontal score line.  I used a ruler and stylus to make the diagonal score lines from the bottom of the score lines made at 1 1/4" and 6 1/4"  out to the bottom corners of the 2" deep x 2 1/2" panels immediately below the 1/2" score lines made at 1 1/4" and 6 1/4";
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the six matting panels:  four @ 3 7/8" x 2 3/8", and two @ 1 7/8" x 2 3/8";
  • two designs of the Sweet Sorbet patterned paper from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253 - currently available on the Clearance Rack!) for the six DSP panels:  four @ 3 3/4" x 2 1/4", and two @ 1 3/4" x 2 1/4"; and
  • one of the Mini Glue Dots (item 103683) to attach the bow tied using 3/8" white gross grain ribbon from my stash to the small silver bulldog clip, also from my stash, that I used to hold the carton closed.
I think Sweet Sorbet is such a pretty colour - and very spring-like!  Unfortunately, as one of the 2022-2024 In Colours it will be retired at the end of the term of the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue!  The good news is that there will be new In Colours introduced with the launch of the 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue!

To complete this lidded box that measures 3 1/2" wide x 3 1/8" x 1" deep I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the box a 5 1/8" x 5 1/2" piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock (item 146987), scored at 1" on all four sides;
  • for the lid a 5 3/16" x 5 9/16" piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, scored at 1" on all four sides;
  • Gorgeous Grape/Highland Heather patterned paper from the Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 162593) for the lid's DSP panels:  for the top of the lid one piece 3 1/16" x 3 7/16"; for the sides, two pieces 3 1/16" x 15/16", and two pieces 3 7/16" x 15/16";
  • 2 1/8" x 1 1/2" rounded corner rectangle die from Nested Essentials dies (item 161597) to cut the window opening in the top of the lid after the top of the lid's DSP panel had been glued on;
Nested Essentials dies - 161597
  • a 3" x 2 1/2" piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) - glued to the inside of top of lid behind window opening (before assembly of lid completed);
  • a 1" circle punch to cut thumb notches in two side panels of lid after the side panels' DSP panels were glued on and before assembly of lid completed; and
  • for the bow tied around the box - silver cord from Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766).
And finally . . .
For the "box" portion of each of these two treat holders (which measure 3" tall x 3" wide x 1" deep) I used an 8 1/2" x 4" piece of cardstock - scored on the 8 1/2" side at 1", 4", 5", and 8" (1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 4" side at 1" (bottom flaps).  For each of the two handles on each holder I cut two circle frames, using the largest and third largest circle dies from the Stylish Shapes dies, gluing the two frames together with wrong sides together so that there were two finished sides - using two frames for each handle also gives a little more strength to the handles.  I glued the handles to the inside of the front and back panels, so that half of the frame (1 1/2") showed above the box.
Additional supplies used to complete the first holder:
  • Blueberry Bushel cardstock (item 146968) for the box portion and the handles;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the four matting panels - two @ 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" (front and back panels), and two @ 2 7/8" x 7/8" (side panels);
  • two designs of Blueberry Bushel patterned paper from Glorious Gingham 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 163170) for the four DSP panels - two @ 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" (front and back panels), and two @ 2 3/4" x 3/4" (side panels);
  • Pumpkin Pie ink, Pecan Pie Ink Refill, Old Olive Ink Refill, and Mossy Meadow ink to colour the Encircled In Nature floral image (die cut using the co-ordinating Encircled In Nature dies); and
  • from my stash, 5/8" "almost Pumpkin Pie" gross grain ribbon for the knot tied around handle.
Additional supplies used to complete the second holder:
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) for the box portion, and handles;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for eight matting panels:  two @ 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" (front and back panels), two @ 2 11/16" x 2 11/16" (front and back panels), two @ 2 7/8" x 7/8" (side panels), and two @ 2 11/16" x 11/16" (side panels);
  • Old Olive cardstock (item 100702) for four matting panels:  two @ 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" (front and back panels), and two @ 2 3/4" x 3/4" (side panels);
  • Gorgeous Grape patterned paper from Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 162593) for four DSP panels:  two @ 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" (front and back panels), and two @ 2 5/8" x 5/8" (side panels) - I scraped all edges of the DSP panels with the blade of my craft knife;
  • Old Olive cardstock - cut into strips, run through a paper crimper, and then scrunched with my fingers, for the shred - everything must co-ordinate!; and
  • "almost Old Olive" 3/8" gross grain ribbon from my stash for the handle bow.
Thank you for visiting my blog!  I had a lot of fun working on these treat holders - it was a nice distraction from an unwelcome masked visitor who was trying to make a home in my attic this week!
