Playing With A Few Favourites From The Clearance Rack!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week using three products recently added to the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack - the Garden Wishes stamp set (item 154408), Stitched Triangles dies (item 152710), and the Nuts & Bolts stamp set (item 157650).

Just before I begin with the projects an announcement about a new line introduced by Stampin' Up! on March 1, 2023:
Online Exclusives

On March 1, 2023, Stampin' Up! introduced a new line - Online Exclusives, which will include lots of exciting new products not being released in association with any of the standard SU catalogues! Online Exclusives will only be available through the online store.  In my online store (https://archiesatelier.stampinup.net/) you can view at your convenience the current Online Exclusives release in the separate "Online Exclusives" category under the "Shop Now" tab.  Stampin' Up! is planning three releases of new products for Online Exclusives in 2023 - March, July, and November.  There will be no set retirement or end date for the new products but many may be available only while supplies last.  In addition to the exclusive new online products, Online Exclusives will also include kits, SU branded merchandise, and some products no longer featured in a current catalogue (such as the 2" and 1 3/4" circle punches).

Just a quick summary of the standard tools and supplies I used to complete my projects:
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for cutting paper and cardstock (may also be used for scoring);
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring lines on paper and cardstock;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) - for burnishing all paper and cardstock score lines;
  • Taker Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer and tacky putty tips are a tremendous help in picking up and placing embellishments and small die cuts - the paper piercer tip is also great for making small holes;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Stamparatus (item 146276) - stamp positioning platform that is a tremendous help when you need to make multiple impressions of a stamped image or sentiment to ensure a dark/crisp result; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
Now on with the projects!
'Tis The Season Matchbook Junk Journal/Notebook
(Garden Wishes stamp set)
I made this matchbook junk journal/notebook in anticipation of the imminent and inevitable arrival of my least favourite season - dandelion season!  I thought I could use this junk journal/notebook to record my battles against this indomitable foe that is not even defeated by snow!

I used the following additional supplies to complete the project:
  • three pieces cut from one 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) for the matchbook back and front covers, and the piece connecting the back and front covers and forming the top spine: an 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece for the back, scored at 1 1/2" on the 8 1/2" side (to form the fold-up piece for the matchbook closure); a 6' x 4 1/2" piece for the front; and, for the connecting piece/spine, a 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" strip, scored on the 1 1/2" side at 5/8" and 7 /8" (to form the 1/4" top spine);
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the dandelion and bee images on a 4 3/16" x 2 3/4" watercolour paper panel, and the "'Tis The Season" sentiment, from the Brightest Glow stamp set (item 159542) on a small piece of watercolour paper (Stampin' Up! offers Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612);
Brightest Glow stamp set - 159542
  • Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Old Olive ink (item 147090), Basic Gray ink (item 149165), and Soft Suede ink (item 147115) to colour the dandelion and bee images;
  • Soft Suede ink to stamp the distressed text image from the Queen Bee stamp set (item 160476) on the image and sentiment panels, and to sponge around the panels' edges;
Queen Bee stamp set - 160476
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the sentiment banner;
  • Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111) to stamp the leafy sprig image from the Forever Fern stamp set (item 152559) around the edges of the front cover;
Forever Fern stamp set - 152559
  • Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the large splatter image from the Painted Poppies stamp set (item 151599) on the inside of the front cover;
Painted Poppies stamp set - 151599
  • Mossy Meadow ink to sponge the edges of all pieces of Mossy Meadow cardstock;
  • Abigail Rose 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159037) - for the front matting panel, matchbook fold matting panel, matting panel for the notebook, and for strip along bottom of back cover hiding the staples;
  • Soft Suede ink to stamp the distressed text image on and to sponge the edges of the Abigail Rose ledger pattern DSP matting panel - after inking the panel I lightly spritzed it with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) and blotted dry with a paper towel;
  • Soft Suede ink to sponge the edges of all other pieces of Abigail Rose DSP;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the matting panels - to distress the edges I scraped the blade of my craft knife along the edges;
  • Soft Suede ink to stamp the dandelion and distressed text images, and Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the leafy sprig images, on the notebook pages - for a distressed "sketchy" look for the images I did not put the stamps on a block - I just held the stamps in my hand and applied random pressure with my fingers - mostly stamping off on a scrap piece of paper before stamping on the notebook pages - the wrinkles in the crinkly/wrinkly coffee-dyed paper I used for the notebook helped getting uneven stamped images (not something a stamper would probably usually want but it was the effect I wanted here!); and
  • Very Vanilla baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - wrapped around the matchbook fold closure.
Before I added the matted image and DSP panels I put the matchbook cover together - aligning the top of the inside front cover and inside of the back cover to the fold lines on the outside of the connecting/spine strip.  To secure the fold over forming the matchbook bottom closure I used small staples - adding the staples approximately 5/8" from the bottom edge of the fold.  For the notebook I used four 8" x 5 3/8" sheets of coffee-dyed copy paper, folded in half and sewn together using the three-hole pamphlet stitch (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2022/02/a-few-projects-using-ranunculus-romance.html) and four strands of embroidery floss.  Before sewing the notebook pages together I inked all edges with Soft Suede ink and then stamped the text/images.  I glued the back of the last page of the notebook to the DSP panel that I glued to the inside of the back cover.

Garden Wishes Hello Card
For this 4 1/4" x 3" top-fold card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983) for the card base - the front panel I embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder (item 158804) - I sponged the edges of the embossed front panel with Basic Gray ink (item 149165);
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the dandelion image on a 3 1/8" x 2" watercolour paper panel;
  • Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Old Olive ink (item 147090), and Basic Gray ink to colour the image (Basic Gray ink to add the splatters);
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink to stamp the "Hello" sentiment (Garden Wishes) on Basic White cardstock (item 159276);
  • small tag die from Mini Pocket Envelope dies (item 159167) to cut the sentiment tag;
Mini Pocket Envelope dies - 159167
  • Pear Pizzazz cardstock (item 131201) and Basic Gray cardstock (item 121044) for the matting panels - I distressed the edges of the Basic Gray cardstock panel by scraping the blade of my craft knife along the edges; and
  • Gray Granite baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - for the tag bow - I secured the ends with a tiny dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Stitched Triangles Dies
For this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" side-fold card I used the Stitched Rectangles dies for a stylized tree and used the following additional supplies:
  • Shaded Spruce cardstock (item 146981) for the card base, circle (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183), and the leafy sprigs (cut using the Queen Bee dies (item 160484);
Stylish Shapes dies - 159183

Queen Bee dies - 160484
  • Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088) to sponge the watercolour paper die cut triangle and to stamp the distressed text stamp from the Queen Bee stamp set (item 160476) - I lightly spritzed the sponged and stamped watercolour paper triangle with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) and blotted dry with paper towel;
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the bird image from Nested Friends stamp set (item 160322) on watercolour paper and the co-ordinating die from the Nested Friends dies (item 160488) to cut out the bird - the Nested Friends stamp set and dies are available together as the Nested Friends Bundle (item 160489) - when purchased together, using the Bundle item number, there is the 10% Bundle Savings!
Nested Friends stamp set - 160322

Nested Friends dies - 160488
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115) to colour the bird image, and to stamp the "Thank You" sentiment from the Nature's Harvest stamp set (item 156495), on Very Vanilla cardstock (item 101650);
Nature's Harvest stamp set - 156495
  • Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563) to cut the sentiment tag, and, from Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318), the hole re-enforcer;
Tailor Made Tags dies - 155563
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) and Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686) to cut the detailed and solid nests respectively using the Nested Friends dies;
  • Soft Suede ink to sponge the detailed nest die cut (I used a "dabbing" motion with the sponge to get a speckly effect);
  • Queen Bee dies to cut the four small flowers from Very Vanilla cardstock;
  • Soft Suede ink to sponge the edges of the die cut flowers;
  • Crumb Cake cardstock for the image backing panel - I gave some texture to this panel using the Stitched Greenery die (item 155451);
  • Very Vanilla cardstock for the front matting panel - I distressed the edges by scraping the blade of my craft knife along the edges - and for the inside panel (Soft Suede ink to add the splatters);
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) for the tag - I secured the knotted ends with a tiny dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue; and
  • Crumb Cake dots from Enamel Dot Essentials (item 160751) - used for the centers of the three flowers on the front panel and two added to the Shaded Spruce cardstock circle.
From a piece of the Abigail Rose 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159037) I made an envelope for the card using an envelope punch board.  I sponged all edges of the envelope with Soft Suede ink, and the almost Shaded Spruce 5/8" gross grain ribbon used for the bow is from my Dollar Tree stash.

For this 5 3/4" x 4 3/4" card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Night of Navy cardstock (item 100867) for the card base;
  • watercolour paper for the die cut triangle - coloured with Starry Sky ink (item 159212) - applied with a wet paint brush;
  • Meadow dies (item 155852) to cut the flower from watercolour paper (coloured using Rich Razzleberry ink - item 147091 - Old Olive ink - item 147090 - and Mossy Meadow ink - item 147111);
Meadow dies - 155852
  • Summer Shadows dies (item 156618) to cut the rounded three-leaf sprig to the left of the flower, and Poppy Moments dies (item 151594) to cut the sharper edged leafy sprig to the right of the flower - both sprigs were coloured using Old Olive and Mossy Meadow inks;
Summer Shadows dies - 156618

Poppy Moments dies - 151594
  • Orchid Oasis cardstock (item 159267) for the embossed panel - embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (item 149643) - and for the narrow strip on the inside panel;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the front matting panel, and inside panel;
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the "From all of us" sentiment (from the Garden Wishes stamp set) on a small piece of watercolour paper - the trimmed sentiment panel was cut using the narrowest die from the Stitched Rectangles dies (151820);
  • for the bow I used Night of Navy baker's twine from another recent addition to the Clearance Rack - Fan Baker's Twine (item 158143); and
  • white dots from Enamel Dot Essentials (item 160751) - one large, two medium, and two small dots used on the front panel (including over the ends of the baker's twine).
Earrings
I really enjoy making and wearing earrings - especially fun ones!  The bases for all the earrings were made using the second smallest of the "tall" triangle dies - for a little extra support I cut two triangles for each earring - gluing the two pieces together with wrong sides together.  For the frames for the black and gold earrings I used two dies - cut together - the die used for the base of the earrings and the smallest die.  On the die cutting platform I secured the dies with strips of low-tack tape, centering the small die inside the larger die, to keep the dies even while cutting.  For the frames I used Distressed Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Paper - item 159237.  For two of the earring bases I used Basic Black cardstock (item 121045), and for the lemon earrings, Garden Green cardstock (item 102584). For the flower earrings I used the small flower die from the Queen Bee dies (item 160484) to cut the flowers from Sweet Sorbet cardstock (item 159268); the smallest triangle die to cut the flower "bases" from Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990); and Matte Black Dots (item 154284) for the flower centers.  For the lemon earrings I used the Teacup dies (item 160186) to cut the lemon slice - the solid section from Crushed Curry cardstock (item 131199), the detail overlay from Basic White cardstock (item 159276); and the Queen Bee dies to cut the leafy stems from Pear Pizzazz cardstock (item 131201).  To make the small holes to accommodate the jump rings I used a paper piercer tool - trying to center the holes as much as possible.  These earrings may not last the duration but they are just for fun!

And finally . . .
Nuts & Bolts stamp set
These little robots are a little rusty as they have been out of service for awhile but are still sincere!  For these 4" x 3" and 4" x 3 1/8" respectively, top-fold cards, I stamped the images and sentiments on a watercolour paper panel using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured the images using Basic Gray ink (item 149165) and Soft Suede ink (item 147115), and, for the heart, Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216).  Splatters were added to the first card by flicking the brush tip of a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 100082) against the marker lid; and splatters on the second card added by flicking a little Soft Suede ink with a wet paint brush.  I sponged Soft Suede ink around the edges of each of the watercolour paper panels.  I used Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for matting panels for each card, with an additional Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318) matting panel on the first card.  I finished each card by adding four of the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082).
