Flowers (and a few hearts too!)

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few flower (and hearts too!) projects I worked on this week using several Stampin' Up! products - including three Sale-A-Bration features:  the Favoured Flowers 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160833); the Adorable Owls stamp set (item 160269); and the Dandy Designs 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160836).  The Favoured Flowers DSP and the Adorable Owls stamp set are two of the free selections available with a $60.00 CDN order (before taxes and shipping), and the Dandy Designs DSP (four sheets each of 12 double-sided designs - a total of 48 sheets) is one of the free selections available with a $120.00 CDN order (before taxes and shipping).  Sale-A-Bration is on now until February 28, 2023.

A brief recap of the standard tools and supplies I use to complete my projects:
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - trimming paper and cardstock - can also be used for scoring;
  • stylus and score board (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - scoring paper and cardstock;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) - for burnishing all score lines to get crisp folds (also great for adding a slight curve to handles before they are attached);
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer and tacky putty tip come in very handy for picking up and placing small embellishments and die cuts;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Stamparatus (item 146276) - stamp positioning platform that is great for allowing you to stamp an image/sentiment multiple times to ensure a crisp final image; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).

My first two projects, featuring the very pretty Sale-A-Bration Favoured Flowers DSP, are milk carton style gift boxes - cutting and assembly instructions provided by Sam Calcott (Mixed Up Crafts) in her December 7, 2022, and May 13, 2017, You Tube videos - respectively "Flip Lid Milk Carton Gift Box" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhzkk9pVKyk&list=RDCMUCVzExvwnw-Cg7t-l2bRqP1Q&start_radio=1&t=192s), and "Easy Carton Style Gift Box" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5E-C8ZjtcE&list=PLb0K2Vuv8QLDXjP1bv6zvtFn_h8HjBq9d&index=5).  I slightly amended the construction of the second gift box from the instructions provided by Sam Calcott.  Both boxes are nice and simple to construct.

I thought the Flip Lid Milk Carton Gift Box would be perfect for the Favoured Flowers DSP - a nice spring gift box (perhaps to hold a Mother's Day gift?) - and I added a window gift card holder made using the Mini Pocket Envelope dies (item 159167) - the window was cut using the small rectangle die included with the dies.
Mini Pocket Envelope dies - 159167

The gift box measures 7" wide x 6 3/4" tall (the height of the box portion is 4") x 2 1/2" deep.  A quick summary of cutting dimensions:
  • for the box - 2 pieces of cardstock 10" x 9 1/2" - each scored on the 10" side at 2 1/2" and 9 1/2", and on the 9 1/2" side (with the 1/2" tab at the bottom) at 2 1/2" and 6 1/2" - in the 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" rectangles you score from the top middle (1 1/4") down to each corner - this forms the side top triangular sections;
  • for the closure - a 7" x 2 1/2" piece of cardstock, scored on the 2 1/2" side at 1" (the 1" tab is glued to the back of the box and the 1 1/2" tab is the front of the closure); and
  • DSP panels -  2 pieces 6 3/4" x 3 3/4"; 2 pieces 6 3/4" x 2 3/4"; 2 pieces 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"; 2 pieces 2 3/4" x 2 1/4" (these pieces, for the triangular sections, are cut from the top center down to each corner); and for the closure 1 piece 1 1/4" x 6 3/4", and, for the back of the closure, 1 piece 3/4" x 6 3/4".
For the box I used two sheets of the retired Basic Black 12" x 12" cardstock (item 124267 - from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue) - I had stocked up!.  I added two black eyelets, and used some 5/8" black gross grain ribbon from my stash.

For the gift card holder I cut an additional back section to use as the liner (so that I would have a  "finished" edge along the top back); a small piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) for the window - glued to the back of the front panel behind the window opening before the gift card holder was assembled); two leaf sprigs from Basic Black cardstock (cut using the leaf sprig die included with the Mini Pocket Envelope dies); and a DSP heart cut using the larger heart die from the Teacup dies (item 160186).  I also added an eyelet to the top back of the gift card holder and tied the gift card holder to the ribbon bow using two strands of black baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475).
Teacup dies - 160186

For the second gift box, which measures 3" across x 6" tall (the height of the box portion is 3") x 2" deep, I used the following additional supplies:
  • a 10 1/2" x 8 1/4" piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574) for the box, scored on the 10 1/2" side at 2", 5", 7", and 10" (1/2" tab is the glue tab), and scored on the 8 1/4" side at 2" (bottom flaps), 5", and 7".  In the upper 2" x 2" squares you score from the center point (1" and 6") down to the corners - this forms the upper side triangular sections;
  • Evening Evergreen cardstock for the large tag, and hole re-enforcer on the smaller tag - cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563);
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the sentiment tag - also cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies;
  • Evening Evergreen cardstock for the two small leaf sprigs - cut using the small double leaf sprig dies from the Nested Friends dies (item 160488);
Nested Friends dies - 160488
  • Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576) to stamp the sentiment, from the Nature's Prints stamp set (item 158793);
  • Teacup dies (item 160186) to cut the one large and three small DSP hearts; and
  • Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon (item 158135) to tie the sentiment tag to the "stubby" black clothespin (these I found at Dollarama).
The dimensions for the DSP:
  • 2 pieces 2 3/4" x 2 3/4";
  • 2 pieces 1 3/4" x 2 3/4";
  • 2 pieces 2 3/4" x 1 3/4";
  • 2 pieces 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" - each trimmed from the top center point (7/8") to each bottom corner; and
  • 2 pieces 2 3/4" x 1".
Adorable Owls and Dandy Designs DSP

There are lots of fun patterns in spring-like colours to choose from in the Sale-A-Bration Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper and the owls are . . .  well adorable!

For this 3 1/2" tall (excluding handle) x 3 1/2" wide x 1" deep gift box/treat holder I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the box a 9 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock (item 131297), scored on the 9 1/2" side at 1", 4 1/2", 5 1/2", and 9" (1/2" tab is the glue tab), and scored on the 4 1/2" side at 1";
  • for the handle an 8 1/2" x 3/4" piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock;
  • Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318) for the handle matting strip (8 1/2" x 5/8"), side matting panels, front and back matting panels, and sentiment tag (cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies - item 155563);
  • Coastal Cabana cardstock for the tag hole re-enforcer (also cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies), the sentiment strip, and large circle (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183);
  • Mango Melody cardstock (item 146989) for the square (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies);
  • watercolour paper (Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612) for the image circle (also cut using the Stylish Shapes dies);
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the owl;
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115) to stamp the sentiment;
  • Soft Suede ink, Pool Party ink (item 147107), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), and Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) to colour the owl and image circle;
  • Mango Melody cardstock for the small die cut flower (cut using the small flower die from the Queen Bee dies (item 160484);
Queen Bee dies - 160484
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) for the flower stem - cut using the Dainty Delight dies (item 160674);
Dainty Delight dies - 160674
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock for the small and large double leaf sprigs - cut using the Nested Friends dies (item 160488); and
  • Glossy Dots Assortment (item 158827) - a Pool Party dot used for the flower center.
After gluing on the DSP panel to the handle strip I slightly curved the handle using my bone folder, and then glued it to the inside top edges of the box side panels approximately 1/2" from each end of the handle.

Happiness Abounds Stamp Set (flower bouquet)
and Heart Punch Pack
For these two cards I used the flower bouquet stamp from the Happiness Abounds stamp set (item 159238), and the plain edge heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack (item 151292).  For the first card I punched out the heart from a scrap piece of cardstock and used the negative image as a stencil and, using one of the Small Blending Brushes (item 160518), applied Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216) through the stencil onto a piece of watercolour paper.  After removing the stencil I spritzed the watercolour paper with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), allowing the edges of the heart to bleed, and then added more drips of water and blotted them with a dry paper towel.  After the watercolour paper was dry I placed another heart stencil (this time I punched the heart out of plain copy paper) over the inked heart and stamped the flowers around the edges (using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink - item 132708).  I then replaced the copy paper stencil with the cardstock stencil and traced around the edges of the heart with a fine black marker.  Finally I added some black splatters to the panel using a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 100082) by flicking the brush tip against the marker lid.

For the second card I stamped the flower on a plain edge heart punched from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock (item 144237), added splatters using the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, and then glued the heart to a scallop edge heart punched from Basic Black cardstock (item 121045).

Additional supplies I used for the first card (4" x 4" top-fold card):
  • Sweet Sorbet cardstock (item 159268) for the card base;
  • Basic Black cardstock for the matting panel;
  • black & white patterned paper from the recent addition to the Clearance Rack, All Together 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 160039);
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) - wrapped around the matted image before it was glued to the card base; and
  • 2022-2024 In Colour Decorative Dots (item 159186) - I added four of the Sweet Sorbet shaded dots to the side of the image panel.
Additional supplies I used for the second card (3 1/2" x 3 1/2" top-fold card):
  • Very Vanilla Thick cardstock (item 144237) for the card base and embossed panel (embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder - item 158804);
  • Basic Black cardstock for the matting panel - I scraped the blade of my craft knife along all edges;
  • Very Vanilla baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - wrapped around the two hearts;
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to attach the hearts to the embossed panel; and
  • Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) - I added three of the Basic Black dots to the embossed panel.
And finally . . .
Dainty Delight Dies Flower Card
For this 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" side-fold card I used the following supplies:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, and embossed panel (embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder - item 149643);
  • watercolour paper for the frame - I sponged Old Olive ink (item 147090) onto the watercolour paper panel, spritzed with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), added some additional drips and blotted dry with paper towel.  The square cut out was cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183);
  • Dainty Delight dies (item 160674) to die cut the flowers, flower centers, leaves, and stems;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) and Highland Heather cardstock (item 146986) for the die cut flowers;
  • Old Olive cardstock (item 100702) and Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) for the die cut leaves/stems;
  • Pear Pizzazz cardstock (item 131201) for the die cut Queen Anne's Lace (the flower portions sponged lightly with Craft Stampin' White Ink - item 147277);
  • Mango Melody cardstock (item 146989) for the flower centers - each was sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115);
  • Highland Heather cardstock for the sentiment banner (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies);
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the "Hello" sentiment, from the Forever Fern stamp set (item 152559);
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) - wrapped around the edge of the frame after the flowers and leaves were glued to the back side and lower corner of the frame and before the embossed panel was glued to the back of the frame;
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock for the matting panel (I scraped the blade of my craft knife along all edges); and
  • Enamel Dot Essentials (item 160751) - I added three of the white dots below the sentiment banner.
