Celebrating Sale-A-Bration With Adorable Owls!

Hello and Happy New Year!  Since the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration for 2023 started yesterday (January 5, 2023) today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week featuring the Sale-A-Bration Adorable Owls stamp set (item 160269).

Playing with the Adorable Owls stamp set was a good cure for the post-Christmas letdown and for a long week of very dreary January weather!  For the coloured owl images I stamped the images on watercolour paper (Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612) using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured using Stampin' Up! inks.  To complete my projects I used the following basic tools:
  • Stamparatus (item 146276) - a stamp positioning tool that really helps when you need to over stamp an image multiple times to get a crisp dark image;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for paper/cardstock trimming and scoring;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) - for burnishing scored lines; 
  • Take Your Pick tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer and putty tips are very handy for maneuvering small die cuts and embellishments; and
  • for the main adhesive - Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
On with the projects!
Gift Box
For this lidded gift box that measures 4" x 4" x 2" tall I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the box an 8:" x 8" piece of Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318), scored at 2" on all four sides;
  • for the lid a 6 1/16" x 6 1/16" piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock (item 159268), scored at 1" on all four sides;
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216), Old Olive ink (item 147090), Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), and Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to colour the owl image;
  • Sweet Sorbet patterned paper from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253) for the decorative paper panels for the top and sides of the lid;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the owl image circle, the circle opening in the top of the lid DSP panel, and the Soft Suede cardstsock circle (that was set into the circle opening of the DSP panel);
  • new Dainty Delight dies (item 160674 - also available as part of the Dainty Delight Bundle with the Dainty Delight stamp set - Bundle item 160675) - to cut flowers from Sweet Sorbet cardstock, flower centers from Soft Suede cardstock, and leaves from Pear Pizzazz cardstock (item 131201);

  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - to attach the owl image circle (so I could tuck the flowers and the trimmed leafy stems under the circle); and
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082) - a small dot added to each of the three round flower centers.
For the bow I tied around the lid I used some light olive green 5/8" gross grain ribbon from my stash.
Cards
For this 4" x 4" side-fold card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (Item 159229) for the card base;
  • for the blue chain-link fence patterned paper panel a piece of the Sale-A-Bration Dainty Flowers 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 160834 - another product that is available for free with a $60.00 order!);
  • Mango Melody patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Brights (item 159258) for the additional DSP panel;
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115), Starry Sky ink (item 159212), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216), and Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to colour the owl image;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the owl image circle;
  • Starry Sky ink to stamp the sentiments on watercolour paper;
  • small heart dies from Full Basket dies (item 158679) to cut the four Mango Melody cardstock (item 146989) hearts;
  • Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) - I added two of the small and two of the large white dots; and
  • white baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) for the bow added to the card front and the bow attaching the tag to the center of the envelope's ribbon bow.
Using an envelope punch board I made an envelope using a piece of the recently retired Sweetest Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159559).  The 5/8" red and white gingham ribbon is from my Dollar Tree stash!  I used a 1/8" hole punch to punch the hole in the envelope's tag.

For this 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" side-fold card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318) for the card base;
  • Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for front matting panel, and inside panel;
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197) for the front pierced panel (for the pierced design I used the Stitched Greenery die - item 155451);
  • leaf sprig die from Mini Pocket Envelope dies (item 159167) to cut the two Pool Party cardstock leaf sprigs;

  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the owl image circle, sentiment banner, and Soft Suede patterned paper square;
  • for the decorative paper panels, Soft Suede patterned paper and Pool Party patterned paper from the retired, and recent additions to the Clearance Rack, 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Neutrals (item 155226) and 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Subtles (item 155229) respectively; and
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082) - I added three of the small and one of the large dots to the card front.

For this 4" x 3" top-fold card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Orchid Oasis cardstock (item 159267) for the card base and the embossed panel (embossed using the splatters embossing folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders - item 157980);
  • Starry Sky cardstock (item 159263) for the matting panel (I distressed the edges by scraping the blade of my craft knife along the edges), and for the scalloped panel (cut using the scallop edge die from Scalloped Contours dies - item 155560);
  • Basic Gray ink (item 149165), Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708), Soft Suede ink (item 147115), Old Olive ink (item 147090), Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), and Starry Sky ink (item 159212) to colour the owl image;
  • Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563) to cut the owl image tag and Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) hole re-enforcer;
  • Starry Sky ink to stamp the sentiment on a small piece of watercolour paper, and to stamp the owl image on the inside of the card;
  • Sweet Sorbet patterned paper from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253) for the matting circle (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183); and
  • Crumb Cake baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - for the tag loop.
3" x 3" Sticky Notes Easel Holders
I had so much fun making these quick and easy 3" x 3" sticky notes easel holders that I didn't want to stop making them! I think they would make great little gifts - for teachers, co-workers, or anyone who is a stationery junkie!  There are two basic pieces:  for the base a 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock - scored on the 8 1/2" side at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4"; and for the top (stand up) piece a 3 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of cardstock.  The bottom half of the back of the top piece is glued to the 2 1/8" section of the base piece. The 3" x 3" sticky notes and the the mini ball point pens I picked up at Dollarama.  The "almost Mango Melody" with white polka dots 3/8" gross grain ribbon is from my stash!  The owl images (circle and squares) were cut using the Stylish Shape dies (item 159183).  For stability, before gluing the sticky note pads to the base I glued to the back of each sticky note pad a just under 3" square of cardboard, which I cut from the support cardboard that comes in a package of the 12" x 12" Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper.
For the first holder I used the following additional supplies:
  • Parakeet Party cardstock (item 159259) - for the base piece, sentiment strip, and sentiment label (cut using the label die from Fabulous Frames dies - item 159163);
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock (item 146990) - for the top piece, base piece matting panel, sentiment label backing piece (cut using the Stitched Rectangles dies - item 151820), and leaves (cut using the leaf sprig die from Mini Pocket Envelope dies - item 159167);
  • Parakeet Party patterned paper from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253) - for the decorative paper panel;
  • Pumpkin Pie cardstock (item 105117) for the base piece matting panel, and the scalloped circle (cut using the Layering Circle dies - item 151770);
  • Dainty Delight dies (item 160674) to cut flower from Mango Melody cardstock (item 146989) and flower center from Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318);
  • Campology stamp set (item 152553) for the "Enjoy Today" sentiment - stamped on Parakeet Party cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) and then sponged with Granny Apple Green ink;
  • Granny Apple Green ink, Mango Melody ink (item 147093), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the owl image; and
  • Matte Black Dots (item 154284) - I added two of the small dots to the sentiment label.
For the second holder I used the following additional supplies:
  • Mango Melody cardstock (item 146989) for the base piece;
  • Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the top piece, sentiment strip, and base piece matting panel;
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197) for the top piece matting panels, and the base piece matting panel;
  • Coastal Cabana patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Brights (item 159258) for the decorative paper panel;
  • Campology stamp set (item 152553) for the "Enjoy Today" sentiment, which was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708);
  • banner die from Stylish Shapes dies (item 151820) to cut the sentiment strip - I then tore each end;
  • Pool Party ink (item 147107), Bermuda Bay ink (item 147096), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the owl image; and
  • Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) - I added one of the large and two of the small white dots.

For the third (and last!) holder I used the following additional supplies:
  • Orchid Oasis cardstock (item 159267) for the base piece, large heart (cut using the heart die from Teacup dies - item 160186), and the heart cut out strip (cut using the small heart dies from Full Basket dies - item 158679 - and Stitched Rectangles dies - item 151820) - I was able to cut the heart cut out strip in one step by placing over the cardstock, on the cutting platform of the Cut & Emboss Machine, the conjoined small heart dies inside the narrowest of the Stitched Rectangles dies;
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197) for the top piece, matting square (cut using the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183), the curved leaf sprig (cut using the Forever Flourishing dies - item 152714), and the base piece matting panel;
  • Starry Sky cardstock (item 159263) for the top piece's embossed panel (embossed using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder - item 156505), and the base piece matting panel;
  • Starry Sky patterned paper from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253) for the decorative paper matting panel behind the owl image; and
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115), Bermuda Bay ink (item 147096), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216), and Starry Sky ink (item 159212) to colour the owl image.
