A Few Post Power Restoration Projects

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week following the restoration of power on Monday evening following the devastating storm that struck the Ottawa area on Saturday May 21, 2022.  I was extremely fortunate that I only lost power and had very minimal damage - others in the area, unfortunately, were not so lucky.  All the downed hydro poles on the Merivale Road was a scary sight and, considering the extensive damage to the hydro system, I am amazed that power here was restored as quickly as it was.  I am extremely grateful that my sister and brother-in-law, while having lost very many beautiful trees and large sections of their lovely gardens on their rural property, narrowly escaped catastrophic damage - a very scary situation involving a huge tree that crashed onto their propane tank with sufficient force to drive the tank through the cement pad and very narrowly avoiding damage to the tank's valves - with 800 litres of propane in the tank - Dio Gracias!! With all the damage caused by the storm, cleanup for many will take a very long time.

For my projects I wanted fun images and some bright colours . . .
A Heartfelt Thank You
For the base of this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" side-fold card I used Sweet Sorbet cardstock (item 159268), and for the hearts, basket, and kitten I used the Cheerful Basket Bundle (item 158680) - which includes the Cheerful Basket stamp set (item 158674) and the Full Basket dies (item 158679).  The stamp set and the dies can also be purchased separately, but when purchased together as a bundle there is the 10% bundle savings.  I am looking forward to playing more with this set for sure!
I stamped the images on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) - the hearts were coloured using Sweet Sorbet Ink (item 159216), and the basket and kitten were coloured using the Watercolour Pencils - Assortment 1 (item 141709).  The sentiment, from the Nature's Prints stamp set (item 158793), was stamped on Sweet Sorbet cardstock also using Stazon Jet Black Ink.  The sentiment circle was cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183).  I also used the following supplies:
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045);
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) - for the inside panel;
  • Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper from the In Colour 2022-2024 Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159253);
  • the stitched heart die included with the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder (item 157641) to cut the Sweet Sorbet cardstock heart for the inside of the card;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755);
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to adhere the kitten; and
  • Daffodil Delight 1/4" Ruched Ribbon (item 151311) - for the kitten's bow and which is currently available on the Clearance Rack!
I "ruffled" the edges of the front Basic Black cardstock panel using the blade of my craft knife.

The sentiment was also stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I also used the following supplies:

Wish You Were Here Card
For the base of this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" side-fold card I used Basic Gray cardstock (item 121044).  The image again was stamped on Basic White cardstock (item 159276) using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708), coloured with alcohol markers, and cut out using Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579).  On watercolour paper that I had lightly spritzed with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) I added some Sweet Sorbet Ink (item 159216) and then cut the circles using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183).  The Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) panel was embossed using the Stripes 3D Embossing Folder (Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders - item 157980),  The "Wish you were here" sentiment was stamped on Basic Gray cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The sentiment banner, and the Basic Black cardstock banner for the inside of the card, were cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.  The "You feel like home to me" was also stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I also used the following supplies:
  • Heart & Home Doilies (item 157956);
  • Matte Black Dots (item 154284) - used on the sentiment banner;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755); and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - used to attach the image and sentiment banner.
Friend Tag
Again I stamped the image on Basic White cardstock (item 159276) using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708), and coloured the image using alcohol markers.  The tag was cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563).  The "friend" sentiment, from the Happiness Abounds stamp set (item 159238), was also stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  To the tag I added a hole-reinforcer cut from Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) and a loop of Crumb Cake baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475).

And finally . . .
Sending Many Thanks Slimline Card
For the base of this 8 1/2" x 4" slimline card I used Basic Black cardstock (item 121045).  All images were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406).  To stamp and cut the teacups I used the Cup of Tea Bundle - item 158667 - which includes the Cup of Tea stamp set (item 158661) and the Teacup dies (item 160186).  To stamp and cut the flowers I used the Happiness Abounds Bundle - item 158824 - which includes the Happiness Abounds stamp set (item 159238) and the Blossoming Happiness dies (item 158823).  To colour the flowers I used Sweet Sorbet Ink (item 159216), Mango Melody Ink (item 147093), and Watercolour Pencils - Assortment 1 (item 141709) [Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso] and Assortment 2 (item 149014) [Crushed Curry and Granny Apple Green].  The sentiment was stamped on Basic White cardstock (item 159276) using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708).  To cut the foliage I used the Summer Shadows dies (item 156618) for the larger leaves and leaf outlines; and the Grove dies (item 157844) for the smaller leaves.  The foliage was cut from Garden Green cardstock (item 102584) and Pear Pizzazz cardstock (item 131201) and sponged with Old Olive Ink (item 147090).  I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755) as the adhesive.  For embellishments I used Polished Dots (item 158134) and Brushed Brass Butterflies (item 158136).  Using an envelope punch board I made a co-ordinating envelope from Perfectly Penciled 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159244).  As an alternate envelope I used a 9 1/2" x 4 3/16" top opening business envelope to the front of which I added a strip of the Perfectly Penciled DSP and a watercoloured teacup.
