Thinking Spring!

(with the help of the Easter Friends stamp set, Flowering Fields designer series paper, and the Dandy Wishes and Pierced Blooms dies)

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few "thinking Spring" projects I have been working on this week featuring the Stampin' Up! Easter Friends stamp set (item 157737); Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 157670); the Dandy Wishes dies (item 154315); and the Pierced Blooms dies (item 154312).
Easter Friends Stamp Set
(item 157737)
It is never too early to start working on Easter treat holders and the Easter Friends are so sweet!  For each of these treat holders I stamped the images on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and watercoloured the images using the Watercolour Pencils - Assortment 1 (item 141709) - Early Espresso, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, and Pumpkin Pie - and Assortment 2 (item 149014) - Crushed Curry.  To colour the bunny I used Early Espresso, and Calypso Coral (cheeks and nose); for the chick and duckling I used Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie.  The shading around the images and the splatters on each of the images was done using Basic Gray.
For the base of the bunny treat holder, which measures 4 3/4" tall (excluding the handle) x 3 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" deep, I cut and scored a piece of Petal Pink cardstock (item 146985) as follows:  10" x 6 1/4" - scored on the 10" side at 1 1/2", 4 3/4", 6 1/4", and 9 1/2" (the 1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 6 1/4" side at 1 1/2" (bottom flaps).  For the front of the box I used a piece of Petal Pink DSP from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Assortments - Subtles (item 155229), matted with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686) allowing for a 1/16" border.  The image was cut using the Stitched So Sweetly dies (item 151690), and then matted with Early Espresso cardstock.  On the bunny I glued a bow made with the Bumblebee 1/4" Gingham Ribbon (item 153658). For the handle I used an 11" x 1" strip of Early Espresso cardstock - gluing the handle ends to the inside of the box sides approximately 1" down from each edge.  To each handle side of the box I glued a brown button from my stash, through each of which I tied and knotted a small piece of Linen Thread (item 104199).  The "Easter Blessings" sentiment, from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set (item 157786), was stamped on watercolour paper with Stazon Jet Black Ink.  Over the sentiment I applied a watercolour wash using the Early Espresso watercolour pencil.  The tag was cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563); the hole reinforcer cut from Early Espresso cardstock; and the tag tied to the handle with Petal Pink cotton ribbon from the 1/8" Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack (item 158149).
For the base of the duckling treat holder, which measures 3" tall (excluding the handle) x 3 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" deep, I cut and scored a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock (item 119683) as follows:  11" x 4 3/4" - scored on the 11" side at 1 3/4", 5 1/4", 7", and 10 1/2" (1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 4 3/4" side at 1 3/4" (bottom flaps).  For the front and back of the box I used a piece of Daffodil Delight DSP from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Assortments - Brights (item 155228) matted with Basic White cardstock (item 159276) allowing for a 1/16" border.  The image circle and Pumpkin Pie cardstock (item 105117) scalloped circle were both cut using the Layering Circles dies (item 151770).  The leaves were cut using the Pierced Blooms dies (item 154312) from watercolour paper that I had "smooshed" through some Old Olive Ink (item 147090).  To the duckling I glued on a small bow made using the Daffodil Delight 1/4" Ruched Ribbon (item 151311 and currently available on the Clearance Rack!) For a little extra embellishment for the front panel I added four clear Polished Dots (item 158134). For the handle I used an 11" x 3/4" strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock, gluing the handle ends to the inside of the box sides approximately 1" down from the top edges. The "Happy Easter" sentiment was stamped on Daffodil Delight cardstock using Stazon Jet Black Ink, and the tag was cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563) - the hole reinforcer was cut from Basic White cardstock.  I tied the tag to the handle with a bow using the Daffodil Delight 1/4" Ruched Ribbon.
For the box of this little chick treat holder (which measures 2" x 2" x 2", excluding the handle) I cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686) 8 1/2" x 4" - scored on the 8 1/2" side at 2", 4", 6", and 8" (1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 4" side at 2".  For the handle I used an 8 1/2" x 3/4" strip of Early Espresso cardstock.  I cut the woodgrain decorative panels for the sides of the box and the handle from In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 152494).  After applying the DSP to the handle I glued the handle ends to the inside of the box sides with the handle ends flush with the bottom of the box.  The image circle and Early Espresso cardstock scalloped circle were both cut using the Layering Circles dies (item 151770).  To each box side I added one of the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 156506).  I didn't add any extra embellishments as I wanted the treat holder to resemble a little wooden crate.
Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
(item 157670)
What is a better heralder of spring than tulips? The Flowering Fields DSP is so pretty and colourful - there are lots of possible colour combinations to use - I have only used a few! For this little treat holder I used Highland Heather cardstock (item 146986) - cut and scored as for the little chick treat holder, and the decorative paper panels for all four sides of the box were cut from the Flowering Fields DSP.  The "Easter Blessings" sentiment, from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set (item 157786), was stamped on Highland Heather cardstock using Evening Evergreen Ink (item 155576), and the tag was then cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563).  To attach the tag to the handle I tied a bow using the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon (item 158135).  To each handle side of the box I glued a white button (from Stampin' Up! many years ago!) through which I had tied a piece of Evening Evergreen baker's twine (Fan Baker's Twine - item 158143).  I didn't think any more embellishments were required for the box as the DSP is so pretty on its own!
The inspiration for this cookie box was a package of large (and very delicious!) molasses cookies I picked up at the grocery store.  This 4" x 4" x 1 1/2" deep box holds two of the large cookies (which have been placed in a cellophane bag).  Maybe this could make a nice little "welcome back to the office" gift to leave on a colleague's desk?  For the box I cut two pieces of Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574):  for the base - 7" x 7" scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides; for the lid - 7 1/16" x 7 1/16" also scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides.  Before cutting the window opening in the lid I glued on the DSP panel to the top of the lid.  The window opening and the Evening Evergreen cardstock scalloped circle frame were both cut using the Layering Circles dies (item 151770).  Before I glued the approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) to the inside of the lid behind the window opening I glued on the Evening Evergreen scalloped circle frame (this prevented getting any glue on the acetate).  After gluing on the acetate I completed the assembly of the lid and glued the DSP panels to the sides of the lid.  Using a 1" circle punch I cut the thumb notches on two sides.  The "Hey There" sentiment, from the Catch You Later stamp set (item 158037), was stamped on Pumpkin Pie cardstock (item 105117) using Evening Evergreen Ink (item 155576).  The little tag was cut using the small tag die from the Ornate Frames dies (item 150664).  Around the box I tied a bow using the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon (item 158135).  I tied the tag to the bow using a piece of Evening Evergreen baker's twine (Fan Baker's Twine - item 158143).
For this flip top box, which measures 4" tall x 4" wide x 1 1/4" deep, I cut and scored a piece of Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) as follows:  11" x 7" - scored on the 11" side at 1/2", 4 1/2", 5 3/4", and 9 3/4"; and scored on the 7" side at 1 1/4", 5 1/4", and 6 1/2" (the 1/2" tab is the glue tab).  I have also attached a photo of a hopefully legible template showing orientation and where I trimmed the cardstock:
I matted each of the DSP panels with Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676), allowing a 1/16" border.  The "live life in full bloom" sentiment, from the Flowering Rain Boots stamp set (item 157689), was stamped on Pool Party cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708).  The sentiment circle, the Poppy Parade cardstock (item 119793) scalloped circle, and the Mossy Meadow cardstock scalloped circle were all cut using the Layering Circles dies (item 151770).  Around the box I tied a bow using the Mossy Meadow 3/16" Braided Linen Trim (item 154298 and currently available on the Clearance Rack!)

And finally . . .
Dandy Wishes and Pierced Blooms dies
(items 154315 and 154312 respectively)
For these two little treat holders I cut and scored the cardstock as I did for the little chick treat holder.
For the first box I used Pool Party cardstock (item 122924) for the box and handle.  For the decorative paper panels I used Pool Party DSP from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Assortments - Subtles (item 155229), which I matted with Basic White cardstock (item 159276), allowing for a scant 1/16" border.  I used the Dandy Wishes dies for the main flower (cut from Daffodil Delight cardstock - item 119683); some of the grasses (cut from Pear Pizzazz cardstock - item 131201 - and Old Olive cardstock - item 100702); and the "bee flight path" die to decorate the handle.  To cut additional grasses I used the grass dies from the Honeybee Blooms dies (item 157951) - the tallest grass - and the Horizon dies (item 157778) - for the lower grass strip used on the front, back and sides of the box.  For the little Daffodil Delight cardstock flowers and for the Basic White cardstock center for the main flower I used the Pierced Blooms dies.  For the butterflies I used the butterfly dies from the Daffodil dies (item 157794) - the smaller butterflies cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock (item 141416) and the larger butterfly and butterfly body cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197).  To the handle I tied a bow using the Daffodil Delight 1/4" Ruched Ribbon (item 151311 and currently available on the Clearance Rack!)
For my last little treat holder featuring the Pierced Blooms dies I used Flirty Flamingo cardstock (item 141416) for the box and handle.  For the decorative paper panels I used Poppy Parade DSP (side panels) and Flirty Flamingo DSP (front and back panels) from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Assortments - Brights (item 155228).  The large flower was cut from Poppy Parade cardstock (item 119793); the large flower's large center and the two small flowers were cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock; the large flower's small center and the centers for the two small flowers were cut from Basic White cardstock (item 159276); and all leaves were cut from Old Olive cardstock (item 100702).  To the center of the large flower I added one of the Bumblebee Trinkets (item 155568), and, as a final embellishment, to the handle tied a bow using gold cord from Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766).
