January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue

Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder

Sneak Peek!

Hello!  Today I have a few projects to share that offer a sneak peek of one of the items featured in the upcoming Stampin' Up! January - June 2022 Mini Catalogue!

Quite often there is a let down once the hustle and bustle of Christmas festivities are over and, as well as looking forward to a long cold winter, there is of course the continual looming threat of COVID and its impact on all our lives.  As crafters, we may feel drained from working on Christmas projects and, consequently come January, feel that our creative juices are at a low ebb.  And, although this will not solve all of our problems, there is some good news to look forward to - as of January 4, 2022, there will be a new Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue featuring lots of exciting new products to jump start our creative juices for spring projects!  In addition, Sale-A-Bration will also be running from January 4 through to February 28, 2022, offering lots of cute and fun stamps and papers!

For today's three projects I have used the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder (item 157641).  This item includes one embossing folder and nine dies.  The embossing folder will also be available as part of the Love & Happiness Bundle (item 157642) with the Love & Happiness stamp set (item 157633).

Cookie Box

For my first project I made a larger lidded box (5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" deep) and for the top Real Red cardstock (item 102482) panel that measures 5 3/8" x 5 3/8", I used the embossing folder together with the larger of the two heart dies - using the embossing folder with the heart die (which "snaps" into the embossing folder) you simultaneously emboss your paper and cut out the heart opening.  (The embossing folder can of course also be used on its own, as can the heart die).

For the box base (lid and bottom) I used Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229).  The measurements for the lid and bottom are:

  • lid - 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" - scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides; and
  • bottom - 8 7/16" x 8 7/16" - also scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides.
After scoring the lid piece, but before gluing the sides, I cut a 3" square out of the center of the lid using a ruler and craft knife.  Behind this square I glued a piece of acetate (approximately 4" square- Window Sheets item 142314).  After completing the assembly of the lid but before gluing the embossed and cut Real Red cardstock panel to the top of the lid and the embossed Real Red cardstock panels to the sides of the lid, I lightly sponged all the embossed panels with white ink (item 147277) - sponging the embossed surfaces helps to accentuate the pretty floral embossed pattern.
I cut the thumb notches in two sides of the lid using a 1" circle punch.
Before placing the mini chocolate chip cookies (definitely not home-baked!) in the box I lined the inside of the box with parchment paper.  I used some of the retired Real Red 1" Ruched Ribbon from my stash for the bow.

I stamped the "Thinking of you with all my heart" sentiment (from the Peaceful Moments stamp set - item 151595) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink (item 132708) on Basic White Thick cardstock.  Before cutting the heart using the larger die, I embossed the Basic White cardstock using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (maybe you were lucky enough to pick up this embossing folder when it was recently on the Clearance Rack!)  The little flowers were cut from Real Red cardstock using the larger of the floral dies included with the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder.  The leaves were cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) using the Pierced Blooms dies (item 154312).
I added a small Matte Black Dot (item 154284) to the center of each flower.

Hershey Kiss Heart Box Treat Holder
My second project was inspired by the Real Red embossed heart cut-out I had left over from the top panel of the cookie box.  The embossed heart is the top of this mini box.  Perhaps this little treat box would make a nice co-worker surprise for Valentine's Day?
This lidded treat box will hold one Hershey Kiss:  the lid of the box is glued to the center of the back of the embossed heart, and the bottom of the box is glued to the center of the top of the bottom (unembossed) heart.  The measurements for the lid and bottom of the box are:
  • lid - 2 13/16" x 2 13/16" - scored at 7/8" on all four sides; and
  • bottom - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" - also scored at 7/8" on all four sides.
The flowers (using both the larger and smaller of the floral dies included with the Hybrid Embossing Folder) were cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock (item 141416); and the leaves (using the leaf die included with the Hybrid Embossing Folder) were cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676).  The flowers were lightly sponged with Real Red ink (item 147084).  I added a small  Matte Black Dot to the center of each flower.  The "Love" sentiment, from the Quiet Meadow stamp set (item 155082), was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Real Red cardstock, which was then cut using the mini tag die from the Meadow dies (item 155852). [The Quiet Meadow stamp set and Meadow dies are also available as a bundle - item 155847].  A Linen Thread (item 104199) bow was added to the tag.

Heart Window Mini Milk Carton Treat Holder
My final project is a mini milk carton treat holder with a window cut using the smaller of the two heart dies included with the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder.  I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock (item 119685) for the milk carton, and Cherry Cobbler Designer Series Paper (Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortment - item 155227) for the decorative panels and the clothespin heart.  For the milk carton I cut a piece of cardstock measuring 8 1/2" by 6"; scored on the 8 1/2" side at 2", 4", 6" and 8"; and scored on the 6" side at 2", 4", and 5 1/2".  The DSP panels measure 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" (four); and 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" (two).

I cut the heart window after gluing the DSP panels and glued a piece of acetate (Window Sheets - item 142314) just under 2" square behind the window opening before assembling the carton.  The flower and leaves were cut using the Pierced Blooms dies (item 154312):  the flower from Blushing Bride cardstock (item 131198); the flower center from Cherry Cobbler cardstock; and the leaves from Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676).  I glued the flower and leaves to a Cherry Cobbler heart (cut using the smaller of the two heart dies included with the Hybrid Embossing Folder).  For the closure I glued a DSP heart, which was glued to a Cherry Cobbler cardstock heart for added stability, to a mini clothespin I purchased at Dollar Tree.  To the DSP heart I glued a bow made with Mossy Meadow 3 /16" Braided Linen Trim (item 154298 - which is currently available on the Clearance Rack).
Although "min" this milk carton still holds quite a few little treats!

I had a lot of fun working on these early Valentine treat holders and look forward to making more projects using the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder!
