Flowers Of Spring!
Hello! Maybe because of the "wintry mix" of precipitation that seems to be in the forecast everyday I am certainly ready to welcome the flowers of spring so today I am sharing a few card projects I had fun working on this week using the floral images from the following Stampin’ Up!® stamp sets:
- Gallery Blooms stamp set (item 165211) - with the exceptionn of the largest image I used the co-ordinating Gallery Blooms dies (item 165212) to cut the stamped and coloured images;
- Sweet Bugs stamp set (item 166995) - I used the co-ordinating Sweet Bugs dies (item 167001) to cut the stamped and coloured bluebells image; and
- from the Easter Basket stamp set (item 166940) I also used the "hello, spring" sentiment in addition to the two floral images.
I also used the large leafy stem and dash images from the Nature's Symphony stamp set (item 166919), and the fluttering butterflies image from the Online Exclusives Cutest Crew stamp set (item 167146).
To complete the card projects I also used the following additional Stampin’ Up!® die sets and Designer Series Papers:
- from the Online Exclusives Creative Haven dies (item 167208) I used the oval die to cut one of the Easter Basket flower trio images;
- I used the smallest rounded corner rectangle die from the Nested Essentials dies (item 161597) to cut two of the Easter Basket floral images;
- from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) I used several of the square dies to cut window openings in framing mats, and to cut one of the Cutest Crew fluttering butterflies images;
- two Strawberry Slush patterned papers and one Cloud Cover patterned paper from the 2025-2027 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 165300);
- for torn strips on the Lost Lagoon card I used scraps from one of the patterned papers from the Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 162593);
- black & white patterned papers from the retired Mixed Media Florals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 164638) and retired Zoo Crew 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 161304); and
- Lemon Lime Twist striped patterned paper from the retired Brights 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 163775 - featured in the May 2024-April 2025 Annual Catalogue).
All images were stamped on watercolour paper: the images for colouring were stamped using StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured using Classic Stampin' inks and Classic Stampin' ink refills mixed with a little water and applied with a small paint brush; and for two of the card projects I used Classic Stampin' inks and the faux watercolour technique to stamp the images. The faux watercolour technique is a lot of fun to play with - after applying the ink to the image stamp I use one of the Stampin' Spritzers (item 126185 - package of two) to apply some water either directly to the stamp or to the watercolour paper (and sometimes both). The amount of water will affect how much the ink of the stamped imaged will "bleed" or spread across the watercolour paper.
Just a quick note regarding the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:
- Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting;
- Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock, watercolour paper, and DSP, and for scoring card fold lines. For crisp folds I burnished the folded scored lines with my Bone Folder (item 102300);
- Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the spatula and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for manipulating and placing small embellishments; and
- for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
On with the projects!

And finally . . .
I kept with the spring flowers theme for my Archie in the garden card, shared at the bottom of this blog post. I used StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the feline image from the retired Cheerful Basket stamp set (item 158674 - featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue), the floral images from the retired Grace's Garden stamp set (item 151513 - featured in the January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue), and the fluttering butterflies image from the Online Exclusives Cutest Crew stamp set (item 167146) on watercolour paper. I used watercolour paper for the 4 3/4" square window framing mat, the square window die cut using the largest square die from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183). I used Gorgeous Grape cardstock (item 146987) for the 4 7/8" square matting panel, and Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the base of the 5" square top-fold card. On the window framing mat, and to the inside of the card, I added strips trimmed from two of the Gorgeous Grape patterned papers from the retired Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 163774 - featured in the May 2024-April 2025 Annual Catalogue), and added to the card front two small and two large of the white dots from the Online Exclusives Natural Matte Dots (item 167510).
Thank you for visiting my blog! I certainly had a lot of fun working on these spring flowers cards!
