A Little Christmas Potpourri And Updated Last Chance Products Listing!
Hello! Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week using two of the Stampin' Up!® Online Exclusives seasonal stamp sets: Winter Scenes (item 166088), and Rustic Centerpiece (item 166186). The Rustic Centerpiece cling stamp set is currently available as one of the discounted Last Chance Products! To cut the tag bases for the three tag projects all using the cabin image from the Winter Scenes stamp set I used the Online Exclusives Creative Haven dies (item 167208).
I used StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the images for all projects on watercolour paper, and used Classic Stampin' inks and Classic Stampin' ink refills, mixed with a little water and applied with small paint brushes, to colour the images. For all three tags I used Pool Party ink (item 147107), Crumb Cake ink refill (item 121029), and Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166) to colour the images - additional splatters were added by flicking over the tags the paint brush used to mix the Basic Gray ink refill with water.
To complete my projects this week I also used the following basic tools and supplies:
- Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting; and
- for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
On with the projects!
For each of the tags I cut two tag bases from watercolour paper - the image or top tag was die cut after the image had been stamped and coloured, and a backing tag used to give the tag a little more durability. The two tag bases were glued together with wrong sides together. The addition of the backing tag, with a finished edge, provides a space to add a message to a gift recipient.
To complete the first tag I used the larger of the two Creative Haven rectangle tag dies, which measures 2 5/8" x 2 1/8", and used a length of the retired Black & Very Vanilla 3/8" Large Check Ribbon (item 161982 - featured in the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue, and in the May 2024-April 2025 Annual Catalogue) for the hanging loop, using some of the white baker's twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack (item 155475) for the bow tied around the ribbon.
For the second tag I used the smaller of the two Creative Haven rectangle tag dies, which measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/4", and used some of the silver cord from the retired Simply Elegant Trim (item 155766 - featured in the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue) for the hanging loop. To "fancy up" the hanging loop I also threaded onto the cord a crystal bead and two small silver beads from my stash.
For the third tag I used the large oval Creative Haven die - using low-tack tape to hold the oval die and the tag hole die together while I passed the dies and watercolour paper through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. I used my Crop-A-Dile to enlarge the die cut hole, and to set the white eyelet purchased from my local scrapbooking shop. For the hanging loop I used white baker's twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack (item 155475).
In addition to a thrift store wood frame, glass removed and edges distressed with medium grit sandpaper, with a back inside opening of 6" x 4", and a 6" x 4" black pre-cut photo mat with a 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" window opening I used the following supplies to complete this small decor project:
- Crumb Cake ink refill (item 121029), Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166), Mossy Meadow ink refill (item 133651), Real Red ink (item 147084), and Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094) to colour the image; and
- retired Decorated Pine dies (item 159710 - featured in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue) to cut two large pine branches from watercolour paper. These branches were coloured using Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake ink refills, and Early Espresso ink (item 147114), and glued to the left and bottom front panels of the frame.
For my "Archie" project, shared at the bottom of this blog post, I made a gift tag. Before using the larger of the two Creative Haven rectangle tag dies to cut the tag I used StāzOn Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the feline image from the retired Cheerful Basket stamp set (item 158674 - featured in the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue) on watercolour paper, and used Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) and Basic Gray ink refill (item 149166) to colour the image panel. As with the other tags I cut a backing tag from watercolour paper and glued the two tags together with wrong sides together. I used the Alphabet À La Mode dies (item 160750) to cut the "A" from Basic Black cardstock (item 121045). I used my Crop-A-Dile to enlarge the pre-cut tag hole, and to set the silver eyelet purchased from my local scrapbooking shop. For the hanging loop I used a length of the retired Black & Very Vanilla 3/8" Large Check Ribbon (item 161982). Alphabet dies - of which Stampin' Up! currently has three: Alphabet À La Mode, Mini Alphabet (item 162934), and Party Alphabet (item 165263) - are a great way to personalize gift tags!
