These  Storybook Moments!

(playing with the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper)

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few note cards (and a little box to hold them) that I worked on this week using the Stampin’ Up!® Storybook Moments 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 164662), featured in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalogue as part of the Storybook Moments Suite Collection (item 164681).  This Specialty Designer Series Paper includes two sheets of die cut images, as well as two sheets of panels of various sizes that can be trimmed and used as card front panels.  Additional sheets of the DSP include images that can be die cut using the co-ordinating Storybook Friends dies (item 164674), fussy cut, or cut using a variety of other Stampin’ Up!® dies.

For my note cards I used the die cut images, a few of the trimmed panels, and one of the images die cut using another die from the Storybook Moments Specialty DSP.  To complete the cards I also used the following dies, embossing folders, additional Designer Series Papers, and embellishments:
  •  Everyday Arches dies (item 164629);
  • Perennial Postage dies (item 162607);
  • retiring Country Flowers dies (item 163410) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products;
  • retiring Delicate Forest dies (item 162679) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - banner die to die cut the Storybook Friends stamp set (item 164668) "Happy Spring" sentiment banner;
  • retiring Crafting With You dies (item 161225) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products - embroidery hoop die to die cut the bunny with watering can image circle;
  • Online Exclusives Mini Corrugated 3d Embossing Folder (item 165559);
  • retiring Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder (item 162189) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products;
  • various patterns from the Timeless Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 164678);
  • Petal Pink patterned paper from the retiring 2024-2026 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 163777) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products;
  • Old Olive patterned paper from the retiring Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 163774) - currently available, while supplies last, as one of the discounted Last Chance Products;
  • linen patterned paper from the Online Exclusives Woven Textures 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 165560);
  • Linen Thread (item 104199);
  • two small Pool Party dots from Party Dots (item 164602) - one on each end of the "Happy Spring" sentiment banner;
  • small and medium sizes of Antique Pearls (item 164679) - these Pearls are also featured as part of the Storybook Moments Suite Collection
  • Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush (item 141897) to add some glimmery splatters to the "Happy Spring" card; and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - trimmed as necessary - to attach and pop up several of the die cut images.
All of the note cards are 4" x 3", and, with the exception of the goose and goslings panel card, are top-fold cards.  For the card bases I used the following cardstock:
  • Lost Lagoon (item 133679);
  • Boho Blue (item 161724) - one of the retiring 2023-2025 In Colours;
  • Gray Granite (item 146983);
  • Crumb Cake (item 120953);
  • Basic Beige (item 164511); and
  • Basic White Thick (item 159229).
For additional die cuts, embossed panels, inside panels, and matting panels I used the following cardstock:
  • for the Country Flowers "leafy clump" die cuts - Lost Lagoon shaded with Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), and Old Olive (item 100702) shaded with Mossy Meadow ink.  For shading purposes I applied the ink using one of the Small Blending Brushes (item 160518).  To add the mottled effect to the shaded cardstock die cuts I lightly misted the die cuts with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), allowing to air dry or blotting dry with paper towel;
  • for the Delicate Forest die cuts - Old Olive shaded with Mossy Meadow ink;
  • for the "Happy Spring" embossed panel and sentiment banner - Lost Lagoon - edges of embossed panel shaded with Lost Lagoon ink (item 161678);
  • for the Perennial Postage die cut - Petal Pink (item 146985) - subtle splatters added to the die cut by flicking the brush tip of my Bubble Bath Stampin' Write Marker (Subtles Marker Assortment - item 161687) against the marker lid;
  • for the bunny with watering can image card's embossed panel and strip - Pool Party (item 122924) and Crumb Cake - both shaded with Crumb Cake ink (item 146116);
  • for the fishing badger card - Pebbled Path (item 161722) for both the embossed strip and matting panel.  Pebbled Path is another of the retiring 2023-2025 In Colours;
  • for inside panels:  Basic White Thick, Petal Pink, and Basic Beige; and
  • for additional matting panels:  Early Espresso (item 119686), Petal Pink, Basic White Thick, and Smoky Slate (item 131202).
I sponged the edges of several of the DSP panels and strips with Crumb Cake ink.  To the inside panel of the bunny with watering can image card I added splatters by flicking a paint brush used to mix Crumb Cake ink with a little water.  To stamp the "Happy Spring" sentiment I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708).

To make card envelopes I used an envelope punch board and several retired Designer Series Papers - including Neutrals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159257), In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 152494), and Wood Textures 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 144177).

Just a quick summary of the basic tools and supplies I used to complete the projects this week:

  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming cardstock and Designer Series Paper panels and strips - I also used the Paper Trimmer for scoring and cutting on the box and lid;
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) for scoring card fold lines, and the decorative lines on the box's decorative handle;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) for burnishing scored fold lines - I also used the Bone Folder to give a slight curl to the center section of the decorative handle on the box;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579) - these sharp little scissors are perfect for doing any necessary trimming of die cuts;
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the paper piercer, mini spatula, and tacky putty tips are definitely a great help for picking up and placing small die cuts; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
On with the projects!

To complete the box, which measures 3 1/2" tall (excluding decorative handle) x 4 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep I used the following additional supplies:
  • for the box:  two 7 1/2" x 6" pieces of Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686), scored on the 7 1/2" side at 1/2" (glue tab) and 5"; and scored on the 6" side at 2 1/2" (bottom flaps);
  • for the lid:  a 6 9/16" x 4 9/16" piece of Early Espresso cardstock scored at 1" on all four sides;
  • for the decorative handle:  a 7 1/4" long x 1/2" wide strip of Early Espresso cardstock - scored down the length on the 1/2" side three times at 1/8" intervals; and scored on the 7 1/4" side at 1", 2 3/8", 4 5/8", and 6 1/8";
  • matting panels from one of the Old Olive/Mossy Meadow patterned papers from the Season Of Green & Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 164324):  for the box two 4 3/8" x 3 3/8" panels, and two 2 3/8" x 3 3/8" panels; for the lid one 4 7/16" x 2 7/16" panel, two 4 7/16" x 7/8" panels, and two 2 7/16" x 7/8" panels;
  • matting panels from Early Espresso cardstock:  for the box two 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" panels, and two 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" panels; for the lid one 4 5/16" x 2 5/16" panel, two 4 5/16" x 3/4" panels, and two 2 5/16" x 3/4" panels;
  • main DSP panels from the Storybook Moments Specialty DSP:  for the box two 4 1/8" x 3 1/8" panels, and two 2 1/8" x 3 1/8" panels; for the lid one 4 3/16" x 2 3/16" panel, two 4 3/16" x 5/8" panels, and two 2 3/16" x 5/8" panels; and
  • to embellish the ends of the decorative handle - a total of eight small Adhesive-Backed Textured Dots (item 163338) - four used for each end.
I sponged Crumb Cake ink (item 147116) along the edges of all DSP panels.

Thank you for visiting my blog!  I had a lot of fun working on these projects using the Storybook Moments Specialty DSP!
