Hey Chuck - You Rule The Roost!

(starting to play with the Hey Chuck Bundle)

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week using the new Stampin' Up! Hey Chuck Bundle (item 161553) which includes the Hey Chuck stamp set (item 161549) and the Hey Chuck dies (item 161552).  As with all Bundles the stamp set and dies can of course be purchased separately but, when purchased together there is the 10% Bundle Savings!  I had so much fun playing with these funky images that I didn't want to stop!!  I am especially fond of the screaming rooster - this seems to be how I want to react any time I have to leave the house recently!  This Bundle would be a great compliment to the retired Hey Birthday Chick stamp set (item 154464) and co-ordinating Birthday Chick dies (item 158200).

A brief note about the standard tools and supplies I used to complete the projects this week:
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for cutting cardstock and paper - can also be used for scoring;
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring fold lines on cardstock card bases - scored fold lines burnished using a Bone Folder (item 102300);
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - tacky putty and paper piercer tips are a great help in picking up and placing small die cuts and embellishments;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing; and
  • for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
The images from the Hey Chuck stamp set were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) and coloured using combinations of the following Stampin' Up! inks:
  • for the roosters - Sweet Sorbet (159216), Daffodil Delight (147094), Granny Apple Green (147095), Berry Burst (147143), Pecan Pie (161665), Basic Gray (149165), Real Red (147084), Pumpkin Pie (147086), and Lost Lagoon (161678);
  • for the birthday cake - Daffodil Delight, Lost Lagoon, and Pecan Pie;
  • for the skateboard - Pecan Pie and Lost Lagoon; and
  • for the weathervanes - Pecan Pie and Basic Gray.
Also from watercolour paper I die cut suns, which were coloured with Daffodil Delight ink; foliage that was coloured with Old Olive ink (item 147090) - including Queen Anne's Lace and small floral stem with "white" (uncoloured) or very lightly coloured round flowers; branches with leaves that were coloured with Pecan Pie and Old Olive inks; tree stumps that were coloured with Pecan Pie ink; small daisies that were coloured with Daffodil Delight ink (centers), and flower centers that were coloured with Pecan Pie ink.

To cut the foliage I used the Around The Bend dies (item 160649); to cut the branches with leaves, and the small floral stem with round flowers the Tree Rings dies (item 159888 - which includes the Hybrid Embossing Folder); for the tree stumps (and the clouds, which were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink and the cloud images from the Playing In The Rain stamp set - item 160542) the Playing In The Rain dies (item 160550); and for the small daisies and flower centers, and Queen Anne's Lace, the Dainty Delight dies (item 160674).

Envelopes were made using an envelope punch board and current and retired Designer Series Paper.

Additional supplies used to complete this 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" framed scrapbook page (the 7 1/2" square frame with 6 1/4" square opening I picked up at a local thrift store):
  • 4 5/16" square of watercolour paper - opening cut using the 2 13/16" square die from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - splatters added by flicking a paintbrush on which I had picked up some Basic Gray ink (item 149165) and a little water;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for matting panels (allowing a 1/8" border) - I scraped all edges with the blade of my craft knife;
  • 5 1/4" square of Lost Lagoon cardstock (item 133679) for the matting panel;
  • just shy of 6 1/4" square of Pebbled Path cardstock (item 161722) for the base panel; and
  • for the flower center a 3 mm Orchid Oasis shaded dot from the recently retired 2022-2024 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots (item 159186).
Another scrapbook page!  To complete this 5 3/8" square page I used the following additional supplies:
  • a 5 5/16" square piece of watercolour paper with the center square cut again using the 2 13/16" square die from the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183).  After cutting the window, using one of the large blending brush (Blending Brushes - item 153611) I applied Lost Lagoon ink (item 161678) through the small checked mask from Artistic Mix Decorative Masks (item 159178) to the watercolour paper panel - then, also using Lost Lagoon ink I "second generation" partially stamped the fractured text and splatter images from the Quiet Meadow stamp set (item 155082) - then lightly spritzed the panel with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185), blotting dry with paper towel.  After the panel was dry I sponged the edges liberally with Pecan Pie ink (item 161665);
  • Vellum 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock (item 101856) - to help soften the glossy black & white photograph I glued an approximately 3 1/2" square of the Vellum cardstock behind the window before gluing the watercolour paper panel over the photograph;
  • Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406) to stamp the sentiment on watercolour paper, using the long narrow banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies to cut the sentiment banner, which I then sponged with Basic Gray ink (item 149165), lightly spritzing with water (Stampin' Spritzers) and blotting dry with paper towel; and
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the matting panel - in keeping with tradition I scraped the edges with the blade of my craft knife!

Additional supplies used to complete this 4 1/4" x 3" side-fold card:
  • Orchid Oasis cardstock (item 159267) for the card base;
  • watercolour paper for the flag background panel (cut using the largest flag die from the Nested Essentials dies - item 161597) and the sentiment banner (sentiment stamped using Stazon Jet Black Ink - item 101406 - and the banner cut using the long narrow banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183);
  • large blending brush (Blending Brushes - item 153611) to apply Starry Sky ink (item 159212) and Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) to the watercolour paper die cut flag - spritzed lightly with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) and blotted dry with paper towel - using the paper towel helps create the white spots;
  • Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) - sponged over the sentiment banner - and again lightly spritzed with water and blotted dry with paper towel; and
  • for the flower center a 3 mm Orchid Oasis shaded dot from the recently retired 2022-2024 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots (item 159186).
