A Bird In The Hand . . .

(playing with the Bird's Eye View stamp set!)

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
Joan Walsh Anglund

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few card projects I worked on this week using the new Stampin' Up! Bird's Eye View stamp set (item 161436), from the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue.  These whimsical images are a lot of fun to play with - and to colour too!
I also used sentiments from the Gorgeously Made and Crafting With You stamp sets (items 161193 and 161219 respectively);
and dies from the Gorgeously Made, Around The Bend, and Dainty Delight dies.
  Gorgeously Made dies - 161202

  Around The Bend dies - 160649          Dainty Delight dies - 160674

*The Gorgeously Made stamp set and Gorgeously Made dies are also available together - with the 10% Bundle Savings - as the Gorgeously Made Bundle (item 161203)!

All of the Bird's Eye View images were stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black Ink (item 101406), and coloured using Stampin' Up! inks.

Just a quick note of the additional basic tools and supplies I used to complete my projects this week:
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for cutting cardstock and paper (can also be used for scoring);
  • stylus and scoreboard (Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334) - for scoring fold lines on cardstock card bases;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) - for burnishing the scored fold lines to ensure crisp folds;
  • Paper Snips Scissors (item 103579) - for "fussy" cutting the Bird's Eye View stamped images;
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Take Your Pick Tool (item 144107) - the tacky putty and paper piercer tips are a great help in picking up and placing small die cuts and embellishments; and
  • for the main adhesive - Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
Envelopes were made from cardstock and current and recently retired Designer Series Papers using an envelope punch board.

Now on with the projects!
Additional supplies used for this 5" x 4" top-fold card:
  • Shaded Spruce cardstock (item 146981) for the card base, and torn strips used on the front and inside panels;
  • Lemon Lime Twist cardstock (item 144245) for the large torn strip on the front panel, die cut leafy branch, inside panel and small torn strip;
  • Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094), Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the bird image;
  • Daffodil Delight ink to colour the die cut daisy (which was cut from watercolour paper);
  • Daffodil Delight ink and Shaded Spruce ink to colour the torn watercolour paper base panel for the bird - I also used Shaded Spruce ink to off-stamp the fractured text stamp from the Gorgeously Made stamp set on the watercolour paper panel - spritzing the panel with more water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) and blotting with a paper towel;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the partial leafy branch die cut added to the watercolour paper panel just behind the bird's tail feathers;
  • Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 162481) - I ran the brush tip around the edges of the torn watercolour paper panel;
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) - wrapped twice around the bottom edge  of the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock panel before it was glued to the front of the card; and
  • one large Pretty Peacock gem from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack (item 161623) - added to the flower center.
After gluing the bird to the torn watercolour paper panel and gluing the torn Shaded Spruce cardstock strip to the bottom edge of the panel I glued the panel to the large Lemon Lime Twist cardstock torn strip - adding two tiny staples to each end of the panel, wrapping the Linen Thread around the bottom edge of the cardstock strip, gluing the leafy branch to the back of the cardstock strip and then gluing everything to the front of the card.  Over the entire front of the card, using a paint brush, I flicked Craft Stampin' Ink White Refill (item 101780) - having mixed a drop or two of water with the ink refill.

I used Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the envelope, and the 5/8" gross grain "almost Shaded Spruce" ribbon is from my dollar store stash.

Additional supplies used for this 4" x 4" top-fold card:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base;
  • Pretty Peacock patterned paper from Earthen Elegance 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 161503) for the front 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" matting panel;
  • Pebbled Path cardstock (item 161722) for the large circle - this circle and the image circle were both cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183);
  • Starry Sky cardstock (item 159263) for the sentiment backing banner - cut using the second smallest banner die from the Nested Essentials dies (item 161597) and flipped so that the flagged end is under the image circle;
  • Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983) for the sentiment strip - cut using the Gorgeously Made dies - edges sponged with Basic Gray ink (item 149165) - the strip was cut after the sentiment (from the Gorgeously Made stamp set) was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708);
  • watercolour paper for the three die cut leafy sprigs - coloured using Old Olive ink (item 147090)'
  • Starry Sky ink (item 159212), Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088), Pool Party ink (item 147107), Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), and Basic Gray ink to colour the bird image; and
  • Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108) - added to support the end of the sentiment strip and the left side of the image circle.
I used a piece of the Masterfully Made 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 161192) for the envelope.

Additional supplies used for this 5 5/16" x 4 1/2" side-fold card:
  • Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983) for the card base and sentiment strip;
  • Pebbled Path cardstock (item 161722) for the front matting panel (the edges scraped with the blade of my craft knife), and torn sentiment backing strip;
  • watercolour paper for the background panel (the top cut using the Gorgeously Made die - I tore off a few of the "teeth" for a more distressed look, and also tore the bottom edge), and die cut leafy branch, flowers, and flower centers;
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the sentiment (Gorgeously Made stamp set), and Gorgeously Made dies to cut the sentiment strip - I straight cut the left end;
  • Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088), Daffodil Delight ink (item 147094), and Pecan Pie ink (item 161665) to colour the watercolour paper panel - I used Shaded Spruce ink to off-stamp the fractured text stamp from the Gorgeously Made stamp set.  I spritzed the entire panel with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185) - blotting dry with a paper towel;
  • Shaded Spruce ink, Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the bird image;
  • Pecan Pie ink and Basic Gray ink to colour the books;
  • Daffodil Delight ink and Pecan Pie ink to colour the die cut flowers and flower centers;
  • Shaded Spruce ink to colour the die cut leafy branch; and
  • Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 162481) to add splatters to the card front by flicking the brush tip against the marker lid.  When splattering the card front I used a sticky note to cover the bird image.
Before gluing the matted sentiment strip to the card front I added a tiny staple to the left end of the sentiment strip.

For the envelope I used a partial sheet of Shaded Spruce/Coastal Cabana patterned paper from the recently retired Pretty Prints 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159245) - and the 3/4" gross grain "almost Coastal Cabana" ribbon is, yes, from my dollar store stash!

For this 6 1/4" x 3" side-fold "mini" slimline card I used the following additional supplies:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, die cut leafy branch, and 1 3/4" x 1/4" wide strip added to the bottom of the front panel;
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the matting panel (I scraped the edges with the blade of my craft knife), and 2 1/4" x 1/16" wide bottom strip;
  • a 6" x 2 3/4" piece of Azure Afternoon patterned paper from Bright & Beautiful 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 161449) for the front panel - the sentiment, from the Crafting With You stamp set, was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708);
  • Azure Afternoon cardstock (item 161719) for the two die cut hearts - cut using the Crafting With You dies (item 161225); and
  • Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) and Pool Party ink (item 147107) to colour the bird image.
For the envelope I used a partial sheet from the recently retired Perfectly Penciled 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159244) - and I was lucky enough to find the 5/8" gross grain "almost Azure Afternoon" ribbon at Dollar Tree!

And finally . . .

Additional supplies used for this 5" x 4" top-fold card:
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the card base, die cut leafy branch, "Hello" sentiment die cut strip (torn at each end), and inside panel die cut strip (also torn at each end) - the die cut strips cut using the Gorgeously Made dies;
  • Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983) for the "You're a great friend" sentiment strip - trimmed and torn at each end, and torn strip for inside panel;
  • a 4 7/8" x 3 7/8" piece of Berry Burst patterned paper from Bright & Beautiful 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item 161449) for the front embossed panel (embossed using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder - item 154317), and inside panel torn strip;
  • Berry Burst ink (item 147143), Shaded Spruce ink (item 147088), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the bird image;
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp both sentiments; and
  • four of the Pretty Peacock gems from Tinsel Gems Four-Pack (item 161623) - two of each of the two sizes added to the leafy branch and sentiment strips.
The envelope was made using a leftover sheet of Polished Pink/white patterned paper from the recently retired Awash In Beauty 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 158973), and was paired with more of the 3/4" gross grain "almost Coastal Cabana" ribbon from my dollar store stash!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  As always I had a lot of fun working on these projects!

If you are interested in purchasing any of the available Stampin' Up! products I have used in my projects, and you live in Canada and do not have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please do not hesitate to visit my online store found on my website https://archiesatelier.stampinup.net/ at your convenience, or simply click under the "Shop With Me" tab on the right sidebar of my blog, which will take you directly to my website and online store.  I very much appreciate your business! The digital version of the May 2023-April 2024 Annual Catalogue is available for browsing at your convenience on my website.  Don't forget to also check out the good deals on the Clearance Rack and the full selection of the products available as Online Exclusives!

Like everyone I am restricted by budgetary constraints when shopping for, well, everything - including, alas, art and crafting supplies1  Although we would certainly like to add all the newest stamp sets, dies, Designer Series Papers, embellishments, and tools to our collections, economic realty often dictates otherwise!  What has worked for my sister and I may also work for you and your friends:  we get together to decide on what we both need (want!) and then decide who will purchase what - always on the understanding that the supplies will be shared - i.e. paper and embellishments are divided up, and all stamps and dies (and other tools too!) can be borrowed!  I am definitely the winner in our arrangement as I am extremely fortunate to be able to get away with some very open-ended borrowing periods!! When submitting an online order you may also want to consider combining a few individual orders to take advantage of Stampin' Rewards - starting with an order of $200.00 (before taxes and shipping) you will receive Stampin' Rewards of 10% (ie $20.00) which you use at the time of submission of the order to get some free  Stampin' Up! products - more items that can then be shared!  10% Stampin' Rewards are available on orders - before taxes and shipping - of between $200.00 and $374.00; on orders between $375.00 and $549.00 the Stampin' Rewards increase to 12%; on orders between $550.00 and $724.00 the Stampin' Rewards increase to 14% and you also qualify to receive one item at 50% off (excluding Suite collections, Paper Pumpkin prepaid subscriptions, the standard size Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine or any Bundle that includes the standard size Cut & Emboss Machine); and for orders of $725.00 or more the Stampin' Rewards increase to 16% in addition to one item at 50% off (same exclusions as above apply).

Have fun creating!

Laurel
