Meadow House Diorama

(featuring the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle)

Hello!  Today I am sharing another Dollar Tree house-shaped shadow box/frame project I worked on this week featuring the Stampin' Up! retiring Sweet Gingerbread House Bundle (item 159719), which includes the Sweet Gingerbread stamp set (item 159714) and the Gingerbread House dies (item 159718).  During the ongoing Last Chance Promotion (until January 4, 2023), retiring items from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue are available, while supplies last, with several of the items being offered at substantial discounts - including the Gingerbread House dies (40% off!).

The Dollar Tree shadow box/frame base for this project measures 7" tall (base to top point) x 5" wide x 1 1/2" deep.
For the "sky" I used some of the Beauty of the Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 155841), from the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalogue, and which was a recent addition to the Clearance Rack, but which is unfortunately now sold out - hopefully you might still have some on hand or were lucky enough to pick it up while it was available on the Clearance Rack!  The Mossy Meadow patterned paper I used for the grass, sides, and front edges of the box is from the retiring Rustic Harvest 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159633).  In addition to the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle (Sweet Gingerbread stamp set for the stamped windows and door, and the Gingerbread House dies for the die cut windows, door, grass hills, house, roof, and fence), I used the following dies to die cut the flowers and foliage from watercolour paper (Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612)::
  • Aspen Tree (item 159798) - leaf and leaf cluster;
  • Full Basket (item 158679) - spiky branches;
  • Summer Shadows (item 156618) - leaves;
  • Meadow (item 155852) - large flowers and leafy stem;
  • Honeybee Blooms (item 157951) - small flowers and large grass; and
  • Mini Pocket Envelope (item 159167) - small leaf sprigs.

In addition to the basic tools (Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine - item 14965; Paper Trimmer - item 152392; stylus and scoring board [Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item 122334]; Take Your Pick Tool [with putty tip] - item 144107; and, for the main adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue - item 110755), I used the following additional supplies to complete the project:
  • So Saffron cardstock (item 105118) for the house - before die cutting the house I scored the cardstock at 1/4" intervals (to replicate clapboard siding);
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the roof;
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) for the backing of the box;
  • Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229) for the fence;
  • Basic White cardstock (item 159276) for the stamped windows and door;
  • Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111), Soft Suede ink (item 147115), Starry Sky ink (item 159212), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), and Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086) to colour the foliage and flowers;
  • Starry Sky ink to stamp the windows;
  • Real Red ink (item 147084) to stamp the door;
  • Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to sponge all edges of the "sky" paper;
  • Mossy Meadow ink to sponge all edges of the Mossy Meadow patterned paper, and to colour the backs of the overhanging flowers and foliage;
  • Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) - one small black dot used for the doorknob; and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to adhere the house (with most of the surrounding foliage and flowers glued to the back of the house - I had to tuck in a few extra pieces after adhering the house to the inside back of the box).
I have included below a series of photos showing the progress of the project:
