A Few Christmas Projects!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few Christmas projects I worked on this week.  It is hard to believe that it is already December 1 and Christmas will be here very soon!
Before I get to the projects just a quick reminder that the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Promotion begins today (December 1) and will run until January 4, 2023.  During this promotion retiring products from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue will be available, while supplies last, with quite a few being offered at substantial discounts!  The Clearance Rack has also been updated with great deals on lots of fun products so be sure to check that out if you are submitting an online order!

I have used the following basic tools for my projects:

  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (item 149653) - for all die cutting and embossing;
  • Paper Trimmer (item 152392) - for trimming and scoring cardstock and paper;
  • Stamparatus (item 146276) - a stamp positioning tool that enables you to make several impressions of a stamped image;
  • Take Your Pick tool (item 144107) - the putty tip is very handy for picking up and positioning small embellishments and die cuts;
  • Bone Folder (item 102300) - for burnishing score lines;
  • Mulitipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755) - for the main adhesive; and
  • heat gun (Heat Tool - item 129053) for heat embossing the "Peace" sentiment.
When I die cut stamped/embossed sentiments I stamp/emboss the sentiment prior to die cutting.

For my first project I was attempting to replicate a simple framed rustic wood diorama ornament - these have always fascinated me.  I began by repainting a 6 5/8" square frame that had a 4 3/4" square opening - this glassless frame was a lucky thrift store find! To complete the project I used the following supplies:
  • Early Espresso cardstock (item 119686) for the mat - I embossed the 5 3/4" square piece of cardstock using the Timber 3D Embossiing Folder (item 156406) and then cut the 2 3/8" square opening using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183);
Stylish Shapes dies - item 159183
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the embossed back panel and die cut deer.  The deer were cut using the Grove dies (item 157844) and they and the back panel were also embossed using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder;
Grove dies - item 157844
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115) - to sponge the embossed Crumb Cake cardstock back panel and deer;
  • watercolour paper (Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612) for the die cut trees.  Using the Aspen Tree dies (item 159798) I cut the trees from the watercolour paper with the textured side of the paper facing up so there would be a little more tree bark texture;

  • Basic Gray ink (item 149165) - to "watercolour" the edges of the trees;
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (item 141897) - to add a little glitter to the edges of the trees;
  • Crumb Cake baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - I pulled a single strand from a short length of the twine for the bow around the neck of the small deer - the ends were secured with a tiny dab of glue; and
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) - I stacked the Dimensionals two high when attaching the top mat with the trees and deer attached to the back panel.
For my second project I used an unaltered thrift store glassless frame - this one measures 7 1/2" square with a 5 7/8" square opening.  I used the following additional supplies to complete the project:
  • Sweet Gingerbread Bundle (item 159719) - which includes the Sweet Gingerbread stamp set (item 159714) and the Gingerbread House dies (item 159718) for the house, roof, door and windows, wreath, and trees;

  • Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318) for the torn ground panel.  Using Soft Suede ink (item 147115) and the small check patterned decorative mask (Artistic Decorative Masks - item 159178) I stenciled a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and then splattered it with Craft Stampin' White Refill (item 101780) using a paintbrush and a little water;
  • Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574) for the sentiment label (cut using the label die from the Fabulous Frames dies - item 159163);

  • VersaMark Ink (item 102283) and gold embossing powder (Stampin' Emboss Powders - Metallics - item 155555) to stamp and emboss the "Peace" sentiment, from the Window Wishes stamp set (item 159751);
  • Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108) - trimmed and added to the back of the deer body; and
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082) - two large added to the sentiment label and one small used for the door knob.

The base for my third project is a 4 1/2" square x 3/4" deep wood panel from Dollar Tree, which I turned around so that my scene would be framed.  I covered all edges of the "frame" with embossed cardstock strips (inside, front, and sides).  For a cleaner look I also added a square of cardstock to the "back" (the actual front of the wood panel).  To complete this project I used the following additional supplies:
  • Soft Suede cardstock (item 120953) for all embossed strips, and "back" panel;
  • Timber 3D Embossing Folder (item 156406) to emboss the Soft Suede cardstock from which I then cut the strips measured to fit all edges of the "frame", and to emboss the Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) from which I die cut the door and window shutters (shutters are one die cut window cut down the middle);
  • Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (item 149643) to emboss a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock (item 119685) from which I then die cut the house;
  • snowflake patterned embossing folder from Wintry 3D Embossing Folders (item 155433) to emboss the snow hill die cut from Basic White Thick cardstock (item 159229);
  • Sweet Gingerbread Bundle (item 159719) - Sweet Gingerbread stamp set (item 159714) and Gingerbread House dies (item 159718) - for the house, roof, window and shutters, door, and die cut trees and snow hill;

  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the die cut deer and sentiment label;

  • Soft Suede ink to sponge all embossed Soft Suede ca1rdstock strips, die cut Crumb Cake cardstock deer, and Crumb Cake cardstock sentiment label;
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (item 132708) to stamp the "Enjoy Today" sentiment, from the Campology stamp set (item 152553), on Crumb Cake cardstock
  • label die from Fabulous Frames dies (item 159163) to die cut sentiment label;
  • Soft Succulent patterned paper from the 2021-2023 In Colour 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments (item 159254) for the inside backing panel;

  • Crumb Cake baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) for the pine branch bow and the single thread bow around the deer's neck.  The ends of both bows were secured with tiny drops of glue; and
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082) - two large dots added to the sentiment label.
And finally . . .
These two little handled treat holders (which hold two small gingerbread cookies that I have placed in a small bag - these little bags are sold in cake decorating departments to wrap lollipops) measure 3" tall (excluding handles) x 2" wide x 3/4" deep and might be just the right size for a little treat for colleagues, school, or table favours.  For the box of each treat holder I used a 6" x 3 3/4" piece of cardstock - scored on the 6" side at 3/4", 2 3/4", 3 1/2", and 5 1/2" (1/2" tab is the glue tab); and scored on the 3 3/4" side at 3/4" (bottom flaps).  For each  handle I cut two circle frames using the 1 3/8" diameter and 1 7/8" diameter circles from the Layering Circle dies (item 151770) - I used some washi tape to hold the two circles together for die cutting.  I glued two of the die cut circle frames together, wrong sides together, for each handle, and then glued them to the inside of the front/back of the box at approximately the half-way point on each circle frame.  For the stamped and die cut houses, lollipops, hearts, and die cut snow hill and tree I used the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle (item 159719) - the Sweet Gingerbread stamp set (item 159714) and the Gingerbread House dies (item 159718).
