Stylish Sketches

Hello!  Today I am sharing a few projects I worked on this week using the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration stamp set Stylish Sketches (item 159937).  In keeping with the spirit of World Watercolour Month I think these stamps are ideal for watercolouring!  During Sale-A-Bration, which is on now until August 31, 2022, this stamp set is available for free with a $60.00 CDN - before taxes and shipping - order.  For each of my projects I have stamped the images to be coloured on watercolour paper (Fluid 100 5" x 7" Watercolour Paper - item 149612) using Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) and coloured them using inks.
Here are the projects:
Hello There Card
For this 6 3/4" x 5 1/2" top-fold card I have used the following supplies:
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the card base; and matting panel;
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202) for the interior panel, and for the sentiment circle;
  • Boughs of Holly 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 159600) for the tree-patterned paper panel;
  • Smoky Slate patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Neutrals (item 159257) for the polka dot-patterned paper panel;
  • Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) to stamp the sentiments and the inside panel image;
  • Nature's Prints stamp set (item 158793) for the sentiments;
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) to cut the "Hello there" sentiment circle;
  • Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563) to cut the image tag;
  • Decorated Pine dies (item 159710) to cut the two pine boughs from watercolour paper;

  • Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to colour the image;
  • Mossy Meadow ink (147111), Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576), Soft Suede ink (item 147115), and Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to colour the pine boughs.  After colouring the pine boughs I lightly spritzed them with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185);
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430) to attach the sentiment circle;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755);
  • Classic Matte Dots (item 158146) - one large and one small Basic Black used on the front panel; and
  • Gray Granite baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) to tie the bow on the image tag.
Notebooks
For this 5" x 4" notebook I used the following supplies:
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item 120953) for the cover (5" x 8" - scored at 4" on the 8" side);
  • Crumb Cake patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Neutrals (item 159257) for the plaid and polka-dot patterned papers on the front cover;
  • scrap of Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) torn from a panel that was embossed using the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder (item 159847);
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115) and Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111) to colour the image;
  • Blossoming Happiness dies (item 158823) to cut the spiral bound notebook edge on the watercolour panel;

  • Crumb Cake baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - wrapped around the watercolour panel before the panel was adhered to the front cover;
  • Basic Black baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) - to stitch the notebook pages into the cover.  I used six sheets of coffee dyed copy paper for the signature (for a total of 24 pages for the notebook) and sewed them in using the 3-hole pamphlet stitch (https://archiesatelier.blogspot.com/2022/02/a-few-projects-using-ranunculus-romance.html), tying a knot in the center of the signature; and
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755).
For this 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" notebook I used the following supplies:
  • Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) for the cover - 10 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece scored at 5 1/4" on the 10 1/2" side;
  • Basic Gray cardstock (item 121044) for the embossed front panel - embossed using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder (item 156505) - the edges of the embossed panel were sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115);
  • Smoky Slate patterned paper from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortments - Neutrals (item 159257) for the polka-dot patterned paper used under the watercolour panel;
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (item 131202) for the circle frame - cut using the Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) for the inner circle, and the Layering Circles dies (item 151770) for the outer circle;
  • Honeybee Blooms dies (item 157951) for the wildflower - cut from watercolour paper and coloured using Starry Sky ink (item 159212) and Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111);
  • All Bundled Up stamp set (item 159824) for the "You're the coolest" sentiment, stamped on watercolour paper using Bermuda Bay ink (item 147096) - the edges of the sentiment panel were sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115);;
  • Soft Suede ink (item 147115) and Basic Gray ink (item 149165) to colour the image;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755);
  • Basic Black baker's twine (Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - item 155475) to stitch the coffee dyed pages to the cover using the 3-hole pamphlet stitch - to get the bow along the spine of the cover I started the stitch from the outside of the cover to the inside;
  • six sheets of coffee dyed paper (for a total of 24 pages for the notebook); and
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082) - one large and one small used on the front cover.
Since these little notebooks are semi junk journals I had some fun decorating a few of the pages with an assortment of items left over from other projects (or test pieces . . . ) leaving some room for future journaling!

  • leaves from the Happiness Abounds stamp set (item 159238) stamped in Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) on watercolour paper that had been block stamped with Granny Apple Green ink (item 147095) - leaves cut using the Blossoming Happiness dies (item 158823) - the Happiness Abounds stamp set and Blossoming Happiness dies are available together as the Happiness Abounds Bundle (item 158824) with a 10% discount over purchasing the stamp set and dies individually;
  • "Love you a TON" sentiment, from the Sale-A-Bration Hippest Hippos stamp set (item 159921 - during Sale-A-Bration this stamp set is available for free with a $60.00 CDN - before shipping and taxes - order), stamped in Bermuda Bay ink (item 147096) on Pool Party cardstock (item 122924), with the edges sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115);
  • Polished Pink cardstock (item 155710) heart - cut using the heart dies from the Sale-A-Bration Hippo dies (item 159928 - during Sale-A-Bration these dies are available for free with a $60.00 CDN - before shipping and taxes - order);
  • Halloween princess/garden fairy silhouette stamp from the Scary Cute stamp set (item 159850) stamped using Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) on watercolour paper sponged with Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216) and lightly spritzed with water (Stampin' Spritzers - item 126185)l
  • poppy from the Painted Poppies stamp set (item 151599) stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) - tag cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563) - the flower was coloured with Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Sweet Sorbet ink (item 159216), and Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111). On the tag I sponged Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111) and Starry Sky ink (item 159212) and lightly spritzed with water - the torn edge of the tag was sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115) and I added splatters with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item 100082) by flicking the brush end against the cap.  I added a Linen Thread (item 104199) loop to the top of the tag; and
  • torn sections of a watercolour die cut that was cut using the Chic dies (item 158815) and sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115).

For this page the ducks stamped using Stazon Jet Black ink (item 101406) on watercolour paper were coloured using Evening Evergreen ink (item 155576), Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), Starry Sky ink (item 159212), Soft Suede ink (item 147115), and Basic Gray ink (item 149165).  The spiral bound notebook edge of the watercolour panel was cut using the Blossoming Happiness dies (item 158823); the "Love you a TON" sentiment, from the Sale-A-Bration Hippest Hippos stamp set, was stamped on Basic White cardstock (item 159276) using Starry Sky ink (item 159212) and the edges of the cardstock were sponged with Soft Suede ink (item 147115).  The daylilies were cut from watercolour paper using the Honeybee Blooms dies (item 157951) and were coloured using Mango Melody ink (item 147093), Pumpkin Pie ink (item 147086), and Mossy Meadow ink (item 147111).  The watercolour panel was attached to the notebook page with four small staples.
