Accordion Scrapbook/Mini Album Cards

with Gift Boxes

Hello!  Today I am sharing two accordion scrapbook or mini album cards with gift boxes that I made this week.  For these projects I have used current Stampin' Up!  products, a few new products from the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalogue (which went "live" on May 3, 2022!) plus a couple of recently retired products that I snuck in there too!
Closed, the cards measure 4" x 4", and the boxes measure 1 1/4" deep x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  For each card I used one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock - cut and scored as follows:
  • one piece cut 4" wide by 8 1/2" long - scored on the 8 1/2" side at 4" and 8" (the 1/2" tab is the glue tab); and
  • one piece cut 4" wide by 8" long - scored on the 8" side at 4".
The 1/2" tab on the first piece was glued to the back of the left side of the second piece to form the accordion.

I adhered the ribbon to the front and back panels of the card using double-sided tape (Tear & Tape Adhesive - item 154031) before gluing on the DSP panels.

For each box I cut and scored two pieces of cardstock as follows:

  • for the bottom - 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" - scored at 1 1/4" on all four sides; and
  • for the lid - 6 13/16" x 6 13/16" - also scored at 1 1/4" on all four sides.
I used a 1" circle punch to cut the thumb notches on the sides of the lids.

For my first card ("Hey There - You're Out of This League") I did very little stamping - only using the splatter stamp from the Quiet Meadow stamp set (item 155082) and Soft Suede Ink (item 147115) - for the sentiments I used the phrases from the Hey Sports Fan 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 157882). I combined the DSP with some old baseball themed stickers I found in my stickers stash - I had been holding onto them for many many years waiting for just the right project!  I lightly sponged the edges of all the DSP panels - including the sentiment panels - with Soft Suede Ink.

I used the following additional supplies for this card and box:
  • Night of Navy cardstock (item 100867) - for the card base and the box;
  • Real Red cardstock (item 102482);
  • Very Vanilla Thick cardstock (item 144237);
  • Bumblebee cardstock (item 153077 - retired);
  • Hey Sports Fan 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 157882) - baseball themed decorative paper;
  • In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper - woodgrain paper (item 152494 - retired);
  • Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183 - new) - to cut the perforated edged squares, circles, and banners;
  • Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108);
  • Linen Thread (item 104199) - the bow on the lid;
  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 159082 - new) - four used on the box lid;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755); and
  • Real Red 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon (item 158129).
While I was playing with the Hey Sports Fan DSP I decided on a bonus project - a little backpack using the recently retired All Dressed Up dies (item 151665) - perfect to hold a gift card for your favourite baseball fan!  I used Night of Navy cardstock (item 100867) for the base of the bag; I cut an additional front panel from the Hey Sports Fan DSP; used the recently retired Cinnamon Cider cardstock (item 153078) for the handles, strap, and "button"; the Night of Navy cardstock circle was cut using the new Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183); and for the magnetic closure used the small slim Basic Grey magnetic discs, purchased at my local scrapbooking store.

For my second card ("live life in full bloom") I used the very pretty new Hues of Happiness 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 158822) for the decorative paper panels.  The sentiments, "live life in full bloom", from the Flowering Rain Boots stamp set (item 157689); "wishing you all the happiness you can imagine", "friend", and "you are wonderful in every way", all from the new Happiness Abounds stamp set (item 159238), were stamped with VersaMark Ink (item 102283) and then heat embossed using white embossing powder (Stampin' Emboss Powders - Basics (item 155554).  I also used the following supplies:
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (item 133676) - for the base of the card and for the box;
  • Pool Party cardstock (item 122924);
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock (item 131197);
  • Highland Heather cardstock (item 146986);
  • Gorgeous Grape cardstock (item 146987);
  • Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 157670) - the green/white checked decorative paper;
  • the new Stylish Shapes dies (item 159183) - to cut the perforated edged squares, circles, and banner;
  • Layering Circles dies (item 151770) - to cut the Gorgeous Grape cardstock scalloped circle, and the box lid's Bermuda Bay cardstock sentiment circle;
  • Scalloped Contours dies (item 155560) - to cut the Mossy Meadow cardstock panels;
  • the new Blossoming Happiness dies (item 158823) - to cut the flower and foliage images from the Hues of Happiness DSP;
  • the new Natural Prints dies (item 158800) - to cut the Bermuda Bay cardstock sentiment panel and the Mossy Meadow cardstock foliage;
  • the new Fabulous Frames dies (item 159163) - to cut the photo corners - there are two styles of photo corners included with these dies;
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item 110755);
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (item 104430);
  • Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (item 144108); and
  • from the Clearance Rack - Mossy Meadow 3/8" Diagonal Stripe RIbbon (item 153542) and Mossy Meadow 3/16" Braided Linen Trim (item 154298).
