Let's Play Ball!

Hello!  Today I am sharing two projects I made this week featuring the Stampin' Up! Hey Sports Fan 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 157882).  What better way for a dedicated fan to celebrate their favourite baseball team's opening day than with a couple of little treat holders? The opening day of major league baseball means spring has really arrived!
Night of Navy Popcorn Box
For this 4" tall (excluding the scallops) x 4" wide x 3" deep popcorn box I cut  and scored two pieces of Night of Navy cardstock (item 100867) as follows:
  • 7 1/2" x 7";
  • scored on the 7 1/2" side at 4" and 7" - the 1/2" flap is the glue tab; and
  • scored on the 7" side at 3".
For the scalloped edging I cut strips of Night of Navy cardstock 3/4" wide and in cutting the scallops I placed the scalloped edge die from the Scalloped Contours dies (item 155560) so that the "bottom" of the scallops was flush with the long edge of the cardstock strip.  Before gluing the scalloped trim to the inside of the box edges I trimmed the length of the scalloped cardstock strip as required to fit snugly inside the box and positioned the strips so that the center points between the scallops was flush with the top edge of the box. I trimmed the Hey Sports Fan DSP panels to allow for a very narrow Night of Navy border.  Before gluing the DSP panels to the box I lightly sponged the edges of the panels with Misty Moonlight Ink (item 153118).  I glued two of the Night of Navy coloured "cut aparts" together and added an eyelet - I sponged the edges of the "cut aparts" with Soft Suede Ink (item 147115).  Around the bag of popcorn I tied a bow using the Real Red 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon (item 158129) and then tied the "cut aparts" to the bow with Night of Navy baker's twine (Fan Baker's Twine - item 158143).

Evening Evergreen Handle Treat Box
For the base of this 3 1/2" tall (excluding handle) x 3 1/2" x 1 3/4" wide treat holder I scored the 11" x 5 1/4" piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock (item 155574) as follows:  at 1 3/4", 5 1/4", 7", and 10 1/2" (the 1/2" flap is the glue tab) on the 11" side; and at 1 3/4" on the 5 1/4" side.  After assembling the box I glued on the DSP panels - again I cut the Hey Sports Fan DSP panels (I used one pattern for the front and back and another pattern for the two sides) to allow for a very narrow Evening Evergreen border.   Before gluing on the DSP panels I lightly sponged all the edges of the panels with Soft Suede Ink (item 147115).  I glued three of the Evening Evergreen coloured "cut aparts", the edges of which I also sponged with Soft Suede Ink, to the front of the box.  For the handle I used an 11" x 3/4" strip of Soft Suede cardstock (item 115318) to which I added an 11" x 1/2" piece of woodgrain paper from In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (item 152494).  To each side of the box I added one of the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (item 156506),  Around the bag of candy I tied a bow using Evening Evergreen baker's twine (Fan Baker's Twine - item 158143).

I am now ready to enjoy the game!  (I thought these little baseball-themed treat holders might also be great as birthday party favours for a young baseball fan . . )

The following two items that I used in my projects are retiring items from the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalogue, and are available, while supplies last, during the ongoing Last Chance Promotion - and one at a substantial discount!
  • Misty Moonlight Ink - item 153118; and
  • In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper - item 152494 - at a 40% discount.
Thank you for visiting my blog!  I had a lot of fun working on these treat boxes and am looking forward to the game!
