Hand Penned Designer Series Paper Projects!

(and last day of Stampin' Up! Seasonal Sale!)

Stampin' Up! Seasonal Sale
Today is the last day of the Stampin' Up! Seasonal Sale!  Save 10% on cardstock; 15% on Stampin' Up! ink; and 20% on dies (items on sale are from the Annual Catalogue).

Hello!  Today's projects feature the Stampin' Up! Hand Penned Designer Series Paper (item 155499), and for the bags I have used the All Dressed Up dies (item 1516650) - I believe that I may have mentioned that this die set is one of my favourites!  The floral designs and soft colours of the Hand Penned DSP are very evocative of Spring, which is particularly welcome on a miserable November day!

Since it is the time of year when we are looking for ideas for small gifts of appreciation for teachers, co-workers etc., I thought that a small tote bag holding several small note cards might be an idea.  This little tote bag easily holds five 3" x 3" cards with co-ordinating envelopes.  I also used the Hand Penned DSP for the co-ordinating envelopes, which I made using an envelope punch board.  (If you do not have an envelope punch board Stampin' Up! does carry Basic White 3" x 3" envelopes (item 159233), which could easily be embellished with a few small scraps of the Hand Penned DSP.)
For the body of the tote bag, handles, small buttons, and reinforcer on the sentiment tag, I used Just Jade cs (item 153079).  An extra bag front was cut from the DSP and adhered prior to assembling the bag.  The two larger buttons were cut from the Brushed Metallic cs (item 153524).  The "Thank You" sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink (item 132708) on Mint Macaron cs (item 138337) qnd the tag was cut using the Tailor Made Tags dies (item 155563),  The sentiment tag was tied to the bag handle using gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim pack (item 155766).  The embroidery floss used in the center of the two Just Jade buttons is DMC 992, which matches very well with the Just Jade cs.

I did not add any sentiments to the cards (either on the front or interior) so that the recipient could use the cards for different occasions.  I used the following colours of cardstock for the card bases:
  • Just Jade (item 153079);
  • So Saffron (item 105118);
  • Mint Macaron (item 138337);
  • Highland Heather (item 146986); and
  • Blushing Bride (item 131198).
I used Basic White cs (item 159276) for mats on the exterior of the cards and for the interior panels.  I also used the Stitched Greenery die (item 155451) on the So Saffron front mat panel.

I used scraps of the Hand Penned DSP to embellish the interior panels and backs of several of the cards:

For gift presentation, I placed the tote bag holding the five note cards and co-ordinating envelopes in a clear cellophane bag tied with a bow of Just Jade 1/4" ribbon (which was a recent purchase from the Clearance Rack but I am sorry to say it appears to be no longer available). If you are looking for a Just Jade ribbon, Stampin' Up! does have a Just Jade & Gold 3/8" Braided Ribbon (item 155815).
I also did two other versions of the bag:
For the "purse" version I used Mint Macaron cs for the base, handles and buttons, and Just Jade cs for the purse fastener strip and front pocket.  I thought this style would be great to hold a gift card.  For the second tote bag version I used Highland Heather for the base, handles, and sentiment tag, and Basic White for the buttons and pocket panel. The "Love" sentiment is from the Quiet Meadow stamp set (item 155082) and the tag die is from the Meadow dies (155852). The "Love" sentiment may not be appropriate for all recipients of course!  The silver cord on the sentiment tag is from the Simply Elegant Trim pack.
